The race for 4th is going to be exciting. liverpool and leicester seem out of reach. Still think city will get 3rd or can go on a run to nab 2nd.
Although they've won both, Leicester have looked a bit rough in their last 2 matches.

Have a look at our home fixtures after Christmas. I hope our away form picks up because they’re very tough matches.

For me Chelsea and Man Unt are the teams to worry about for 4th place .In my opinion Leicester are in a golden patch and will lose more points than us .

By next Sunday we'll have played all these away:

Leicester
City
Arsenal
Everton
Liverpool
United
Wolves

That's brilliant for the second half of the season.

So unless I’ve grossly miscalculated, I believe we will need about 75points to make 4th spot.

This means we need another 52 points from 22 matches.

OR

17 wins / 1 draw / 4 losses

Or some combination thereof.

That’s a tall order. But anything is possible.

Or we just win four knockout games (overall) and win the CL

Far Far easier task

Honestly I think you’ve miscalculated. Chelsea are currently on course for 69 points. I think the total will be low 70s, all the teams competing for 4th are pretty flawed

Next 2 games are Wolves and Chelsea. Win those two and we are bang in the race for top 4. Historical points totals are irrelevant. We just need to be ahead of 16 other teams.

when playing the top teams it's great getting them out the way playing them away, but is home advantage, actually an advantage anymore when a team is flying?

by the end of February, we will of played all below home and away but unless we can be solid and be the team that gets the 1st goal it means nothing anymore

City
Liverpool
Wolves
Chelsea

We'll never catch Leicester, they conceded only 9 goals so far and their attack is also elite. We have to beat Chelsea next time we meet.

Attack is elite? Depends what you call elite I guess. I rate Vardy highly, but I’m not calling him, Maddison, Gray, Perez and Barnes elite. Far from it!

Only City and Liverpool score more than them in the league. Vardy and Madisson start easily for most teams. They also have Tielemans who is playing very well for them.

United have a lot to prove before being considered for 4th. Yes, they’re had a great week, but they’re always played well against the top teams. They’re the only team to take points from Liverpool!
It’s the games against the lesser teams that is their problem. Solskjær doesn’t have any idea how to break down defensive teams.

We've also already faced all of Watford, Southampton, Bournemouth, Burnley, Newcastle and Aston Villa at home.
That's horrible for the second half of the season.
In other words, we haven't been better than what we have been. The name of our opponents doesn't make us better, and there is no inherent promise for the immediate future in that we've already been shit away to strong teams.

It's crazy the way some people are downplaying Leicester. They have a tough defence and are now scoring all sorts of goals. If they get a couple of injuries to players like Vardy and Maddison then yes they will drop off, but aside from getting chopped down I don't believe either of them are particularly injury prone.

Exactly. We’ve all them coming up at home. Leicester, City, Liverpool and Man Utd. Chelsea next up at home too and it’s the top 6 teams we have to play. Puts it in our hands though obviously, which is what we want. Leicester last day could be very tasty indeed.

Anyway it’s our away form that is so shit that needs to improve. If we don’t start winning some away games then it’s not going to matter. We are absolute dogshit away from home because we concede too many goals. That needs to change ASAP.

Very good defence, and very, very good, long run of pure, dumb fortune.

It’s wishful thinking and the same stuff was said when they won the league. Nailed on for top three.

They are, they are. And you are right, the same posts popped up in this thread, this time of year, the season Leicester ended up winning. But honestly they've got this sorted. Anyway, we should get through the Christmas program and get into February before we seriously talk about Tottenham in top 4.
