Dudu you say " let it go " well the reason I come on to this forum is to air my views however deluded they may be and also if we all agree to the status quo we will never have discussion and argument which for me is healthy .
That is why I will never let go of my view that the " battle of the bridge " cost us big time to what extent we will never know and as for "let it go " I am still of the view that in 1963 against Benfica the bent referee and two disallowed goals cost us the champions league in its form at the time . That will let you know I am not one for letting things go and I enjoy discussing different views to mine and have on occasions been made to change my stance on things . But on this I stay firm no matter who or how many try to shoot me down .

Fair enough. I retract my let it go comment :)

I know that this might not be a popular opinion but why can't they just end the season with no european competition next year. Just take a year off for everyones sake. Players are being put in terrible positions to get infected or to play themselves into an injury by not having the proper fitness levels when we resume. At the end of the day players are people and I truly want their safety to be first priority over everything.

All this to me is crazy. Just give Sky / BT / Amazon an extra year on their broadcasting contract. Pro rata the rate to be paid and start again when the world has stopped going mad. Lets get people back to work, work out antibody testing, etc. Much more important things.

This is the sensible option, however the powers that be don't care much for player safety and are far more interested in money.

Mainly because lots of clubs will go to the wall in that scenario, as they have to keep paying wages, making repayments to the bank etc, and cannot keep doing that with no income. Everyone on here labeling it greed, but it’s just how businesses and the economy function. If Sky doesn’t get paid, it has to let thousands of staff go. If banks don’t get paid, they need taxpayer bailouts. Everyone owes everyone, and you can’t just press pause for a lengthy period without huge damage.

Think the issue is more with the foreign tv deals such rather than the domestic deals.

Because clubs have begun regrouping there have been new cases, Brighton report three cases and Dresden have cases and so have had to isolate the squad again. This is what is going to happen all over. Even if they start to play the final games they won't finish them. The government has now told people to go back to work and the same thing will happen to them, there will be a rise in cases again.

Does anyone else wonder why the team most opposed to playing again in neutral venues suddenly announced 3 positive tests the day before the premier league meeting?

I personally smell a rat here
Brighton was a CV hotspot a few weeks ago, totally plausible.

According to Govt guidelines, football is about to kickoff as none of them can do their jobs from home.

Because while that would possibly appease the TV companies, and good point about foreign TV already mentioned, it would mean clubs would still face a long period without income. Without being able to make a reasonable call on how long we need to wait to restart there's no way at this point in knowing how long or large that no income window will be.

Among all the problems restarting would give clubs reason to go to the law to set things right .
We have a new problem now you say to a club like say Brighton you are playing next weekend and Brighton reply " but we have Three players unable to play as they have tested positive to the virus . When will it dawn on the powers that be in football that the only way forward is to void the season even then restarting is an unknown date in the future .
Another problem the premier league have is you say to two clubs you are playing next month and one or both of these clubs have players come down with the virus . These clubs will be looking for someone to blame and possibly take to court .

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the government say some professional sports can restart when they issue their guidance today. The PL will already of been briefed.

Exactly. I just can't for the life of me understand why anyone thinks restarting the league, even behind closed doors, is going to be anything but a shambles for that reason. It'll be an absolute miracle if they can get through all the remaining games without a single player, staff member, TV staff etc. Coming down with CV on which case anyone who was involved in a match with them would have to go into quaranteen again. It's just not in the least bit feasable

neither can bar staff, shop workers and hair salons so by your logic I’m off to buy a new outfit to wear to the pub later whilst sporting a fresh fade, cheers Boris (y)

I still think it's absolutely crazy that they're approving football starts in June.

The risk is still way too high no matter the testing.

All this stuff like they can't shake hands and celebrate just confirms it shouldn't restart anytime soon.

The elephant in the room is the physical contact and physical nature of the game which we hear very little on.

Yes we can't go on for months and expect all Clubs to survive but surely voiding this season and preparing the best we can for starting next season when the risk has come down over the next couple of months would be the safest approach.

The government should be supporting the less healthy Clubs in the interim.

Trying to finish this season is completely irresponsible and heaven forbid a player or family member dies as a result.

It really does looks unlikely that all the remaining games will be played in time so i propose one massive game of Wembley, at Wembley, the Wembley of all Wembleys. Each team nominates a player to represent them (i reckon Kane or Moura for us) and we stick someone like Neuer or Buffon in goal. Winner gets 19 points and it goes down by position until the worst placed gets 1. Easy, done in one place in an afternoon, everyone has an opportunity to get the points they need and we can all move on.

Televised Subbuteo. Champion walks away with all the little plastic cups and the broken players, that'll pay the bills.

The media have all acted like today would tell us what is going to happen. Seems nothing of the sort will take place according to this.
