Before this corona virus I ate and slept football with spurs at the forefront of everything . My position now is I have a wife four children six grandchildren many in laws plus nieces and nephews among them including myself four of us have quite bad asthma .
And some want to argue about finishing the season well I say " fuck the season and fuck football " At this moment in time my only concerns are my family and extended family and of course the rest of the country . When is it going to get across to people that at this moment in time football comes bottom of a very long list . Please take care and stay healthy and maybe even lucky. .

I think over the next few weeks this will become a shared feeling making the FA's decision much easier.

Do you think they will cancel the premier League & championship? (Genuine Q by the way)

I just can't see it happening with all the legal cases it would cause and also deciding on who makes Europe next season, Leeds & WBA suing because they are missing out on promised land etc

I'm not sure whether Leeds & WBA would have much public sympathy.

Totally justified in your thoughts but this a football forum in a thread talking about football postponent and speculating when football will resume. So saying "fuck the season" and "fuck football" in football forum chat is a bit odd.

No it’s not! He is allowed to say that in midst of life itself

Whilst I agree football is unimportant right now, we should also remember that these are people’s jobs at the end of the day and some quite rightly are concerned about not having jobs to go back to

I've put an Athletic article from today in the Coronavirus thread in general football. Seems all this posturing is just to do with negotiating a payment with the TV companies.

Not from me mate we was never in a title race as such we were off the pace from the start but tried to chase it down from about December/January.
It was a valiant effort but as often is the case fell short when it mattered and it was the same story the season after.
We could have gone top in equal games had we beaten arsenal and drawn against West Ham! That where we lost it. We were in it up till then

It's inevitable the season will be voided.

They also just want to be seen to be waiting as long as possible before ruling out completing the season.

End of April at the latest and they'll officially void it.

Cleanest way to do it by a country mile, and more importantly the most safest proposal.

Yeah, I’d imagine they are holding off until it’s absolutely certain they can’t continue, that way the tv companies wont have as much leverage. If they voided it now, and somehow this all blew over by the end of April (it won’t, but they have to plan for every situation) then they’d be open to all sorts of claims.

Who’d have thought, back in January, that a virus would be the one letting Demba Ba through on goal.

Crazy times.

Void the season which ultimately is bad for Liverpool, tell you the truth from a banter perspective it's fucking hilarious but from a football perspective and of course me being a football fan and such as the events surrounding it it's a horrible feeling and wouldn't like the season to be completed that way but it has to be done.

This whole thing is just getting laughable now , teams are changing shirt manufacturers or sponsors so we can't play beyond June 30th , just bite the bullet and expunge the season...

"Playing on beyond 30 June is a headache for Liverpool, Newcastle and Watford in particular, given they are changing shirt manufacturers - but clubs who are changing sponsors also have a problem. Deals almost always start in July, with massive marketing campaigns being done around them."

If we do expunge the season it means we didn't lose at home to Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle that will be a relief.

I would hope that this should be the reflection of just normal life. We can have our passions and our hobbies but I think that family, friends and wellbeing should always come before something like football. It's what baffles me most when people say stuff "criminal negligence" etc. about a football transfer.... how on earth is somebody letting themselves get so wound up about a sport!?

As others have mentioned, there are lots of people's jobs on the line here, and that goes for many industries. We could say "fuck Hollywood" and "fuck Formula 1" and "fuck people getting married" but those things support hundreds of thousands of families by providing an income.

When it comes to football I think that the idea of finishing the season isn't just about who wins what trophies, it's about which clubs are able to survive financially and continue to employ their staff. There is already going to be a huge loss of income throughout the entertainment industry so we don't want the FA/PL making decisions which will exacerbate that problem.

In one way cancelling this season may be the best thing for lower league clubs from a financial viewpoint.

My local league 2 side Cheltenham Town have stated in the local media that any delay to next season will affect them more as it will cause a delay in them selling season tickets, which is their most significant income boost.

The potential loss of home match gate receipts is not as serious as a loss of season ticket income.

And this comes from a club who are well used to living within their means.

seriously doubt the new season can even start in September let alone finding time to finish this one.
