Sad to say apart from 10% of population “possibly” having immunity I don’t see a whole lot has changed. Yes we will social distance and be more aware and will be more testing. But remember this has all happened in Spring in the warmest April on record. I dread to think of another spike in actual flu season November-February.

There's a lot of non-factual information in this statement.

10% of the population being immune is a total guess, the number could be lower or a lot higher come winter.

There's no indication that warm weather is a beneficial factor in reducing the spread or effects of the virus. Certainly another very similar virus - MERS didn't have an issue with this. It may that this is the case but there's no evidence for this right now.

Flu season spikes because there are no preventative measures being taken by people. No social distancing, no additional hygiene precautions etc...

Ultimately at this stage it's very hard to predict what COVID will be doing to the country from November onwards.

Can't see the season being completed at all, which is what the majority of us were thinking. It's just a complete minefield in terms of integrity, and even morality.

The cleanest way is just to void the season and try be ready for starting next season at the start of September. And even that might be optimistic.

Like A&C said, Clubs have to suck it up.
I think you are right, that is what will happen. Despite my dislike of Liverpool as a club, however, they really should be awarded the league, on something like a Duckworth Lewis method. No relegation though, that's a path strewn with potential hazards.

Hasn’t been in other countries. Public opinion on any court cases would probably sending sponsors running so clubs would have to be careful.

I can see see the likes of Liverpool, West Brom and Leeds kicking up a fuss if this season is null and void.

I know it has happened in Holland and it really fucked Cambuur

It's about making the best possible decision all round with the safety of the general public at the forefront of such decisions.

Some Clubs will have to accept what's best for the greater good supersedes their own individual situations.

It's possible to end the season without voiding the results to date. Deciding relegation, CL places and the title on points per game for example.

I think that's more likely that just cancelling the season altogether. The Prem takes itself too seriously to allow that to happen.

We also have to consider that a large chunk of our stadium has been turned into a hospital.
It's going to have to stay that way for quite some time, I would have thought, so that going to have an impact too.

I'm not a fan of football without fans but at the moment, I'll take anything!

They are still playing in Belarus if you need a fix :)

Why would Liverpool not be given the title? I can understand not doing relegation/promotion but that part doesn't make sense to me. Feel like people are putting their hearts over their heads on that.

Mathematically they have not won it yet, yes they will go on to win bit can still be caught.

If you apply that logic to champions then the same logic needs to be applied at the bottom. Norwich and Villa probably will go down, so just bump them down....3rd pick to go down is a bit harder. But they do still have a chance to get out of the religation zone.

because they're absolute ****'s? just my two cents worth.

for what it's worth, any application of ppg, form, etc will be pretty meaningless as the game never pans out that way. some team in the relegation spots always goes on a title winning run of form to survive and they'd all be claiming it if someone went down without kicking a ball.

The thing is the Government want it to go ahead? Im sure i hear an MP or someone say that theyre encouraging this?

I personally think the Government will follow France and Netherlands although I think Italy and Spain havent yet decided? but could be totally wrong

Got to be positive about it. If that MP said no chance it continues (he probably knows it won’t) then whole dynamic changes.

You can't just award the trophy to Liverpool because they haven't won the league yet, how don't people understand this?

Right. What would have happened if this was say, 20 games into the season? If the league hasn't been completed, I just don't see how you can hand anything out from champions, to relegation places.
All things considered, I really couldn't care if we're in Europe next year, so that isn't having any impact on my thinking. It's just that if a competition isn't finished, it isn't finished.
Should we be going back and giving cups to the teams that had the best ppg before those competitions were cancelled?!
Some will benefit and some will suffer but it's an unprecedented shitshow, so tough titties.

This may be an unpopular view but I don’t see anything wrong in what UEFA, the Premier League or any other league are doing right now.

Whether people like it or not football is a business just like any other, therefore they have to have contingency plans.

Many people on here seem to have the opinion that football and in particular the Premier League is grotesque for even contemplating playing again this season however, every business no matter how big or small will be planning their recovery ASAP, no matter how awful the situation is or has been.

For the record I hope this season does get completed, for that to happen the country must be in a far better and safer position than it is right now! However, I don’t think that will be the case therefore I agree with Trix that it will be taken out of the leagues hands and the government will decide what does and doesn’t go ahead!

It's not like a business like any other.. It involves thousands of people sitting next to each other in close proximity, it's uniquely different to most businesses out there.

A business yes, but it's not remotely similar to your average business in that we're talking about dealing with thousands and thousands of people.
