Because it'd had been thought that we wanted a null and void league so we can retain our CL status. Turns out it's not true anyway now.

But point is regardless of who stands to benefit, null and void league is the only option with cancelling Europe and basing promotion and relegation off only those who have guaranteed it already.

Where’s the source for this in regard to CL spots?

Tbh with today’s new figures we are on a steeper curve than Italy and Spain with this government’s ridiculous strategy. I suspect in 2 weeks football will be the last thing on most people’s minds.

Not sure if any league have any team already promoted or relegated yet, but what happened if Noone has guaranteed relegation, but someone has guaranteed promotion?

If they voided it and City's CL ban was upheld, that'd mean Arsenal would take their place in next season's CL wouldn't it? :shifty:

If it was the PL then just make it a 21 team league with 4 relegation spots. Basically anything that restores normal number of teams for 21/22

That's the theory, yes. All the rest of the games will be null and void Everything will be as is. Liverpool will win the title and we will not qualify for any European competitions. Great, eh?

That's not gonna work though because some teams will have played harder fixtures than others etc. Like if one team gets relegated because they've played all of the top half already, and another team survives because theyve coincidentally played all the easy fixtures first and haven't had to play the top 6 yet then how is that fair?

By far the most logical thing to do would be to just write the season off and start again next season with all the same teams in each division. Still not ideal but better than the alternatives IMO

You’re really weird with your complete lack of any empathy regarding Poch or those who still are fond of him. Football ain’t all about score lines bud.
Not really, he was a great manager for us at the time, but things have to end...weeping on a forum like a teased fanny isn't going to bring him back.
I support the club, first and foremost.

Obviously for selfish reasons null and void would favour as massively as we have a new manager who can then spend to make us stronger and actually try and compete and we would be in the CL again.

The season is over 75% complete. I don't like the fact it should be written off and thats just my view. No rash decisions should be made for at least a month to see where we all stand on the virus.

If it comes down to a chairman’s decision to get voided on a majority. Will probably be close...

*Void*
All the clubs in the bottom 6 (as they all stay up)
Man City
Man Utd (keeping CL)
Arsenal (5th placed last year)
Spurs (keeping CL)
=10

Plus Everton maybe just for the fun of it. If Southampton and Newcastle have any worries then they might be for it as well.

Think you will find everyone within 10-12 points of relegation will want it voided. Imagine being burnley and saying no and then losing 4 or 5 on the bounce. It makes no sense to vote to keep season going. Esp if it causes delay to next season. Teams like wolves etc would rather guarentee themselves europe than the risk of missing out all together. Leicester United liverpool and sheff utd are the only teams with something to lose. United fans might prefer europa if it means liverpool dont win the league

We need to publicly be against null and void while working our asses off behind the scenes to ensure it gets null and voided. We need that CL spot.

9 games left which can be played in a month. Wkend game then tues or wed game.
Euros cancelled or move to next year. May clash with the new world club cup but who cares about that.
CL and EL can be cancelled as nothing rests on them . League season needs to be finished to sort promotion and relegation, also CL qualification.
So can be sorted June or July hopefully. 3 week break and start next season late August .
Cannot see any chance of football before June.

Teams still in the CL who dont qualify for it next season could argue they could have won it. Same with europa league teams. So its not that simple to just say nothing rides on it. Voiding the comps only works if everything is voided. Its all or nothing. Not picking and choosing

Karen Brady is right even if it's for all the wrong reasons. I'd love to know what alternative solutions fans of other clubs have if the league can't be finished.

The fairest way to do this is declare the league null and void, and on top of that cancel next season's European competitions.

They would never cancel them. To much money from tv rights and sponsorships to just write off a year of revenue.

Journalists just guessing mate. Not even those at the top know what's going to happen yet. Lawyers earning there money trying to work out all the legalities regarding clubs, players contracts, TV companies etc. Meetings planned for Thursday this week but they are aware that whatever they decide will probably legally chalenged.

My guess would be the season being voided.

This is best outcome for us ? pls pls pls :);)

Not really. Not because the situation in the UK isn't bad, it is. But because the official numbers for UK (and also US btw) is a fraction of actual cases out there. So on one hand, the curve isn't really steeper. On another hand, the overall number of cases isn't really that much lower.

It will restart in april but all games behind closed doors and possibly shown for free on tv. Season wont get null and void as much we'd love it. Too much money at stake.

If the money is too important, why would they show footie for free?
Nah, first thing that has to happen, the UEFA must reach their decision on a uniform approach. When we know what that means for PL, we'll know more about possible solutions.

Completely agree, all of European football is going to be rocked financially by this so I can't see UEFA or the clubs collectively leaving hundreds and hundreds of millions in profits on the table simply for the sake of fairness. If anything gets written off to make the schedule work it will be competitions with low economic value like domestic cups, the Nations League or the new format of the Club World Cup. Top leagues, CL/EL and the Euros won't be sacrificed. Perhaps that's not how it should be, but I'd be shocked to see it go any other way.
