Premier league - extra games overseas

I absolutely hate this idea. The NFL playing matches overseas is fair as their fixtures change each season (the only permanent fixtures they have are divisional matches and those don't get played overseas so each NFL team gets to play their divisional rivals once at home and once on the road) and while the international series is designed to make money it's also to expand the popularity of American football, hence the Play 60 events they do with British schools. The Premier League's already the most popular league in the world, so this is just about making money. It's a shame the PL doesn't put half as much effort into making football more affordable for the fans living in England.

Also, what games do you send overseas? Say if Bournemouth get promoted and have to play Man Utd in the Far East, how is it fair to make Bournemouth fans miss out on a trip to OT? However, I can't see the foreign markets being interested in the likes of Sunderland, Hull, West Brom, etc. so do you send the big matches instead?

This shit again? Really?

Just fuck off already. If this happens I'm seriously giving up on top flight football and watch a local club instead.

I don't understand the logistics. If one game per season is played abroad for each team then that means some will be missing out on a home game and others will be avoiding an away fixture. Obviously unfair and couldn't work. Or am I missing something?

Should never happen!! It is the English premier league so should be play in it's entirety in England. So they would take the best games away from it's own fans??!

Scrap the league cup and introduce a EPL, MLS and Asian cup. Or preferably don't change it.

Unless they did something like rugby league does with the Magic Weekend, every team plays in the same stadium over the course of one weekend. Either way, it's s fucking stupid idea. Which is probably why Scudamore thinks it's such a great idea and won't let it lie.

I quite like the idea of Arsenal and Chelsea having to play abroad.... It's just a shame they'd let them come back again.

I can almost guarantee ManUtd won't be giving up a home match...

Ah yes the team that wants to play midweek games in the middle east and etc. this season because they have no CL or EL games wont play abroado_O
You are not normally this dense, they are not going to give up a home match in front of 75,000 to play a league game abroad - now, If Burnley wants to give up a home match to play United abroad, I am sure ManUtd has no problem with that scenario...

Imo if they are offered alot of money to play a home game abroad they will.

Their owners are american and would know that playing a home game at Arlington for example would probably make them alot more money at home. They do have a great customer service and connect with their fans better than we do but their revenue is mostly based on sponsorship deals abroad, selling their tv rights to individual countries and etc.

Man Utd is a big team because its a brand rather than a club.

I personally think if they go to middle east to play friendlies, midweek to compensate for lack of european football they are retarded. They will give up the only advantage they have over the rest of the runners for 4th. They are giving up their rest days and training days for exhibition games that would make up for lack of CL footy.

Arlington for example would make them alot more money than old trafford does if they get the full takings for the game

I think sad thing is and partly my disgust for this idea, is that there are people at every club that thinks this is a fucking brilliant idea.

There was talk in the stadium thread of us looking in to play abroad for a match when we wait for the stadium to get done.
