Will be interesting to see how consistently this rule is applied - can already think of a couple teams and managers who get away with being overly aggressive and never seem to get penalized.

Let me guess.

It will be overly used in the beginning, everyone will complain and then it will be used less.

It will apply to players who haven't already got a yellow card.

We’ll also see it used frequently against the likes of Wolves, Nottingham Forest and Fulham, whilst obvious instances involving players from Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd and Rodri of City will somehow go unpunished.

And then when one Arsenal player gets one it'll be "a disgrace!"

That's basically exactly what you would expect extrapolating the from the trends of the last year or two, plus the summer business that's been done so far. But I feel like there's always one team that does much better than expected and one that does much worse than expected. Could be West Ham and Liverpool that fall into those categories this time imo. Liverpool making no signings so far does feel like dejavu from the Man United Moyes summer.

Oscar Bobb has a broken bone in his leg, unknown how long he'll be out for but estimated to be a few months.

I'd imagine they have to buy another attacker now.

To win the league Arsenal will need to either improve (no team has improved their points total five years in a row) or stay similarly good to what they were last year and hope City fall off. Last season Arsenal scored more goals than they had in 70 years, had their best defensive record since the Invincibles season, kept a clean sheet nearly every other game and had their best ever goal difference. I just don't see them doing that again.

The only club that's broken the Guardiola dominance has been Liverpool, and they won 26 of the first 27 games. That is unfathomable. That is seemingly the standard.

I do think City will drop off though.

I do too, but say they drop off five points - Arsenal are still going to have to win 3/4 of their games. That's an incredibly difficult ask, particularly if you've already done it before and it wasn't enough.

I don't know mate, that pickpocketing scheme from Arteta could easily gain them 15+ points.

At this point I can’t see anyone but Arsenal winning the league and all 3 teams who came up to go straight back down.

Perhaps, and signings of Calafiori / Merino will add more depth but, as it stands, there's still going to be a lot of reliance on Saka to get them goals. Not sure they will get as fortunate with injuries to their core starting 11 this season either.

Oh it’s Arsenal, of course they’ll get fortunate again. It’s already happening with City losing Bobb to injury on the eve of the new campaign. They’ll do fine for goals. Saka only had 25 goal contributions last season (in the league) but they carry as big a threat as anyone from set pieces and Havertz, Odegaard, Martinelli and Trossard will all chip in.

I fear they’ll win it this time.

Can't see another season with Arsenal finishing close second. I think they'll either win the league or completely implode and finish 4th or 5th this season.

I'd absolutely love it to be the latter, but if I had to put my balls on the line I'd say they're going to win the league. I think it'd be marginally easier to take than them winning it in any of the last two seasons, but their fans and the media will be fucking intolerable. No summer tournament to take our minds off it either. 🤢
