The league doesn’t end tomorrow but it’s already a write off. Even if we put together some serious form before the end of the season the best case scenario finish will be about 7-8, which would be a weak finish compared to our average over the past 20 years, and wouldn’t get us Europa League for next season.

Cups are Ange’s route to a future at Spurs. He’s got three lifelines. He needs to win one, and he’s already put his neck on the line in saying that he always does in his second season.

Actually he was just stating a fact from his CV, which is true It's everyone else that has taken it as he promised to win something this season.

If he was stating a fact it would’ve been phrased ‘I always have won’ but he said ‘I always win’ - clear as day. Full quote below.

‘I'll correct myself - I don't usually win things, I always win things in my second year. Nothing's changed.’

Nah, 18 game win streak for the rest of the season and finish on 78 points for guaranteed top 4. Heard it here first. If I am being more realistic, I guess it might be 14 wins and 4 draws for 70 points, but I'm a glass half full kind of guy.

Well if this happens I don’t think you’d find many arguing he shouldn’t stay on!

This isn’t quite fair to say he’s stuck his neck out. He’s mentioned what has factually happened.
Sticking your neck out is saying “I’ll win a cup in my 2nd year”
Which he hasn’t said

He said ‘I'll correct myself - I don't usually win things, I always win things in my second year. Nothing's changed.’ If you don’t take that as him saying that he’ll win one then fair enough, but it seems crystal clear to me.

‘I'll correct myself - I don't usually win things, I always win things in my second year. Nothing's changed.’
He then clarified that:
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has defended his comment about "always" winning trophies in his second season - and says he is "amazed" and "confused" by negative reaction.

The 59-year-old made the remark following Spurs' 1-0 home defeat by north London rivals Arsenal on Sunday.

He told Sky Sports: "I'll correct myself - I don't usually win things, I always win things in my second year. Nothing's changed."

Speaking on Tuesday before Spurs' Carabao Cup tie at Coventry, the former Celtic boss said: "It's amazing, isn't it? I just stated a fact. Am I supposed to just lie or just say it never happened?

"But do you really think it's me sort of boasting?

"It's just confusing to me that people are making a big deal out of something. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to answer something that is true.

"I've just said something that's true, and it seems like it's upset a lot of people for some reason."

Just came in here to say the same sort of thing, both of these teams have players prepared to run at their man and cause havoc to be fair.
It's been a fun game to watch so far.
