He was obviously wasted, I'm guessing the "interviewer" and whoever filmed it didn't know him but recognised him in what looks like a working men's club and sat down with him and coerced him into saying it all. The video coming out may be the consequence of a failed blackmail attempt, who knows.

I do worry about the intelligence of anyone who allows themselves to be filmed saying things which they believe could get them into serious trouble and then say, “by the way that video can’t go anywhere”. Years ago I was taught that in the digital age you should expect any and every video or picture to be shared far and wide. If you’re doing or saying something you shouldn’t, do it away from any cameras.

That being said, Sky’s online report states that Coote makes a number of derogatory comments about Liverpool FC. No he doesn’t - not in the video they have attached to the article. He’s insulting about Klopp, but not the football club. He says one derogatory comment about their performance and saying a team were shit in a game that just happened shouldn’t be controversial even if a ref says it.

I’d like to know why he didn’t officiate another Liverpool game for 4 years after the Burnley match he mentions. Surely there’s bigger questions to ask over that?

They’ve only said that to wind up the Liverpool fans though. They know what they are doing.

Storm in a teacup for me. Anyone involved in football will be passionate and have strong opinions. He was obviously an idiot (or off his tits) to allow it to be filmed, but Klopp can be a really dislikeable wanker, so not hugely controversial.

I still cannot believe how little coverage this has gotten since it came out.

it is a player telling us all that we aren't mad and the refs are biased fuckers at the very least and those decisions that went against your club aren't always honest mistakes.

boils my piss.

At the risk of sounding woe is me and for going on in a way we like to take the piss out of the Liverpool fans for carrying on.

Simply put is it’s because it’s us - too many big fan bases really don’t like us and in the playground dynamic that is football media, people will band together at the easy target to avoid being a target themselves -as happens on fan social media all the way to punditry. So if anything we get this used as a stick to beat us with and the narrative will be the usual we hear all the time.

Liverpool on the other hand have a huge fan base with a huge online presence and a lot of people in the mainstream media. So any slight on them is going to be blown up, whereas for us it’s more ammunition to take shots at us for.

Conte was the var when jota kicked Skipp in the head when we came back to draw 3 3 and refused to recommend him being sent off. He doesn’t have it in for them, he’s just a shit ref.

As with so many things, issue is he was caught doing it. I think it's be incredibly naive to not think that referee's have their own opinions on teams, managers and players etc...but when you're in that position you can't bring it up or it does start to call into question how impartial you are.

As for him being suspended, as the below suggests I did think him calling Klopp a German C was the nail in the coffin essentially. The moment he brought nationality into it I think it went beyond hating a person to something more. No matter the intention.

Calling him a German **** rather than just a **** was always going to be the most problematic part. It creeps beyond it being about favoritism or bias and into territory the squeaky clean FA won't like.

Liverpool were shit in whatever match? No problem. Klopp's a ****? Tell me something I didn't know. Ahh you called him a German ****.

Especially not with the current England manager being a German.

Some freak on RAWK is now researching every Liverpool game that Coote has been involved in and if they lost or dropped points in it, there'll be a new league table posted for each season. Bit like their alternative league table that they somehow win every year.

They're the real winners.

I hinted earlier that I think he's probably done at the highest levels. A big part of it is that he's never been more than a mid pack PL ref. He's never shown signs of getting better. He was removed as a FIFA ref (whether that was a personal choice or for performance) after two years.

I just don't see why anyone with the clout to save him will. Clattenburg was a total asshole but he was good at his job so he got some leeway. Coote is not and probably won't get the leeway.
