I don't think it's corruption - I think it's rank incompetence combined with Arsenal mastering the "dark arts", ie cheating by making every 50/50 look worse than it is.

I believe it is called “The David Dein Enigma”

I'm certainly prone to wild emotional swings, but the officiating this season is killing PL football for me.

No way, its corruption, VAR can see it clearly so dark arts don’t apply.

It can't re-ref the game though, so if Raya or Havertz give reasonable doubt it's not going to be changed.
So why have we conceded goals for the same contact on Vic multiple times, look at that penalty they got today, or the penalty the ref was desperate not to give us last weekend.

they are desperate to help Arsenal out in this run in and it’s clear.

It's starting to remind me of Verstappen's first title. They just make the rules up as they please for the sake of a dramatic narrative. F1 became less of a sport to me at that point and more of an entertainment product, it'd be a crying shame if football goes the same way.

Fans' histrionics is easily more annoying and a waste of time than any issues with refereeing. I'd bin VAR off at the drop of a hat, but a lot of that is based on this constant moaning and conspiratorial nonsense from footy watchers as much as it is about the technical issues with refereeing.

Arsenal won that one easily and should've been 4 up in the first half. The idea that ref decisions or close calls made a difference in that game is absurd.

But they did make a difference though, regardless of how many chances they had they took the lead via a farcical call that nobody can tell me was a penalty.

If you say it enough times people will believe it

European comps tell the real lay of the land
Genuinely think the teams are technically better in other leagues.

Also tactically a bit more nous.

PL is more about energy, athleticism etc.

That's why I think PL teams suffer in Europe, they get tired quicker. Opposition play a bit smarter

Foreign teams certainly defend better for a start.

Refs are just shite.
That's mostly the truth.

However, more so, refs are cowards because they don't want to be the ones who make a call that effects the title race.

Clattenberg even admitted it. Said he would just let Spurs players ruin it for themselves.

If he'd have stopped the Chelsea players from their niggly fouls and Costa from getting aggressive with players then the game would not have got out of control.

Imagine if Arsenal don't get that penalty and Bournemouth's goal isn't disallowed.

How do tou think Arteta and Arsenal are reacting to points dropped?

They are making a statement and calling for PGMOL to face consequences.

The refs don't want the hassle.
