Except he is right. Liverpool should be 1-0 up. United's goal should have been disallowed and no way can that Mane decision be considered handball. Nothing he could have done about that.

Same as Laporte's handball against us earlier in the season.
In this instance it's the law that's the problem, not VAR.
Mane doesn't control the ball with his arm. It clips his arm, but there's no intent to control it like that.
I was watching BeIN's coverage with Andy Gray and he rightly said that if it's the defender who's arm it hits there it's not a penalty because his arm's in a natural position. It's confusing to have two rules regarding the handling of the ball in the penalty area.

The handball rule should be used to eliminate the sort of instances like Henry against Ireland, where it's clear cheating.

I think it will be reviewed at the end of the season and changes will be made.

I'm having trouble seeing this, the ball hit Mane's hand which brought it under control so it's a free kick but I don't get why people are saying it wouldn't have been given if it had hit the defender's hand, it's a clear handball the type of which has led to handball being given for years, if it had been seen of course. The natural position, as I understand it, only count if they are too close to avoid it not for something like that.
By the way, is Andy Gray still working? I thought he was long gone.

Probably cynical.

The reason why Mane's was a fk is because all goals scored by the help of hands are disallowed, there's no intention involved. If the defender was the one getting the ball on his hand it's all down to intention, natural position and all the other words used to describe the subjective interpretation. Might very well have been a pen if Lindelöf was the one who got the ball on his arm.

It's not really confusing though is it. You can't score a goal if the ball touches your hand is pretty simple. Is it fair to score a goal if you control the ball with your hand? Is it fair to give away a penalty if someone smacks the ball off your hand and you can't get out of the way? I'm quite happy with the rules doing away with dodgy goals and soft penalties.

And there are various other rules that only apply in certain situations or areas of the pitch - you can't be offside from a throw in or for instance.

If they lose here it just continues to highlight how shit the Watford result was and how pathetic our squad is for downing tools.

The amount of times SU get down the left and waste the good position is incredible!

Don’t think SU will hold onto this lead, would be pleasantly surprised if they did.

The Sheffield keeper is teasing Mike Dean to show him a second yellow for time wasting.
