Shame this wasn’t on BT. I’d have loved to see Dermot Gallagher squirm to try and defend the officials and technology

you know it would have been his standard “well the official relies on the watch so if the watch doesn’t buzz then the official can’t give it... I completely agree with the official”

“and what about VAR Dermot?”

“umm, err, sorry you’re breaking up”

Terrible decision.

Potentially very good for Spurs.

Sheffield utd fans or any other fan would be pissing themselves if that was us. Fuck them.

Personally I think if the goal decision system is broken they should tell the teams at half time and Villa should score an own goal upon kick off.

Well that just about sums up football at the top level. Millions invested, huge repercussions and 40min in we have a total fuck up. I'd only been watching for 5mins.
Wouldn't be at all surprised to discover some fking knob forgot to switch Hawkeye on.

Lmao even the goal line tech is rusty.

They need to award as a goal, it's absurd if they don't. It was blatantly over the line, why the fuck didn't VAR award it? Total joke.

Our FA are so busy protecting their precious refs while mistakes like this happen, and could mean the difference between teams staying up or going down.

The disinfectant they're using on the balls creates a forcefield around it not allowing the chip to be read by the goal line technology machine.

I'm a scienteest.

How can they forget to switch it on until half time?!?!?
Surely it’s one of the things they test before kick off no?

I wonder if they even looked at VAR. If the GDS failed, VAR should be used to judge. Really strange.

The goal line tech has yet to be proved incorrect so I fully understand why the ref went with what the tech told him, he can't be critisised.

Maybe the refs have been told that VAR cannot get involved in goal decisions when they have GLT? Seems like an insane rule if true.

Still not Pedro Mendes level of corruption but if you were a Sheffield Utd fan you’d be livid. Football is a bit shit really isn’t it?
