Forster 100% as number 2, unless we bring in another seasoned keeper to challenged Vic, none of the keepers we have are close enough yet, more impressed with the younger ones though (keeley and gunter)
When was the last time you saw Forster play... despite being tree-like, not exactly putting down roots.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

I get the ruthless part, especially with Solomon as he already has experience in the premier league and not especially young, but i think Veliz should get more of a chance

Probably last season, and hopefully won't see him that much again this season, but it wouldn't be fair or right on sticking the youngsters into a prem game, especially coming in off rhe bench (which it likely would be).

Forster will have experience in being able to keep his head and do a job, we don't see them train, but I can absolutely assure you his hands will be working really well, there is a massive difference in keepers.

I also think Vic could do worh being a little like Forster in terms of physical capability, we saw a lot last year how he got bullied, the only keeper we have who can't be bullied like that is Forster, the others, and even the youngsters still light for me personally.

Been rather impressed with Austin.
Both him and gunter have done well and it's been great experience for them, I expect if neither go put on loan, they'll be in match day squad as third keeper, but if one is impressing may get thr nod over forster

It's not. I had it last season and there were multiple issues during pre season. A lot of people were complaining they couldn't log in for the Hearts game as well. You only need to check the threads to see it.
the kicker, i haven't paid since last season, getting email after email to reup and boom I've been able to watch both hearts and QPR preseason matches on spursplay.

On Forster - he played in 1 match last season - the loss to Fulham in the Cup.

He was not great 2 years ago in the 22-23 season - so I am not sure how anyone would know if he is a good option as a back up on a team that wants the keeper to play the ball out from the back.

Since he last played regularly - he has had "back problems" and now a foot fracture that still has not healed.

I would rather rely on Austin than Forster at this point. And I am sure Forster is a good guy, and is probably good to have around as a veteran - but my memories of him playing 2 years ago were that he wasn't all that good then - and presumably has not improved with the various injuries.

Personally think gunter is better than Austin.

But neither I'd put in our squad.

I probably need a 2nd viewing for Lankshear in particular. I think Veliz just looks like a big dude right now and that’s about it. Phillips I think has shown well for himself and was a little more brave with the ball today, which was one thing I thought he could have done better against Hearts so that made me favor him more as a stock up guy. Abbott I thought was fine, not bad not good. 👍

I read the emojis as stock up, stock down, etc. Phillips looks similar to what he did last year with Plymouth. Same goes for what we saw from Veliz last year. Seems more or less the same. Lankshear and Abbot impressed me with how well they fit in despite being youth players.

Anyway, not really a deep dive, just my observations relative to my expectations.

Worst case scenario is that he becomes more than a squad player, which is what is happening, if we don’t sign anyone.

On £150k a week. It just seems so pointless. He really just isn’t very good. Not elite enough to be at the level we want and unfortunately he’s going to get a lot of minutes this season at this rate.

I think there are a lot of positives to take so far from pre-season

- the kids are looking great
- generally the squad looks in good shape in defence and midfield etc

But….

we seem to have accumulated a lot of attacking players, few of who are really either of sufficient quality or reliability

Honestly, if you told me that we could cash in on them, it’s only really Johnson of the senior players I’d look to keep. Son’s the captain and needs to stay, but playing wise, he’s on the way down.

The likes of Veliz and Scarlett look miles off, Werner is at best a squad option who we can’t rely on to score. Solomon should never have been signed. Deki looks better centrally, Richarlison’s injuries are a real issue.

Even slightly further back, Madders needs to regain form.

Squad is looking promising, but the attack needs some proper work and I think part of that includes outgoings
