I find it a weird signing tbh. He looks v technically limited. Takes several goes to control the ball. Seems an odd ayer to pick out of all the gifted forwards in South America
I thought his major strength was getting his head on to crosses, but we don't really play that way?

Ineffective. Werner at least provides on the sheet, Solomon doesn't really do much other than look busy. In his defence, he's played like 90 minutes since September so I'd give him some more time.
That’s sort of where I’m at. I actually think he’s got good technical ability and a good burst of pace plus a low centre of gravity when running with the ball but like you say ultimately he was ineffective and posed little threat.

He has missed a lot of football tho so will be quite a long way away from his true level. Question is, once fully fit would he start to be effective enough to warrant holding on to him. Likely not but I don’t think it’s a definite no ether.

Unfortunately if we hope to bring in another attacker we probably need to shift him due to squad numbers plus his injury history is a real concern but I’m not entirely sure he’s a total lost cause. Ultimately tho if it’s a choice between Solomon or Neto it’s an easy decision.

Second half downturn came when Hall came on. Devine vs Hall in the 6 is ball passer vs ball carrier and Devine's ability to find and play passes quickly is what allowed us to dominate. Tyrese Hall is talented but he doesn't move the ball quickly (and is obviously a few years behind physically) so we kept getting overwhelmed by their press.

Abbott, Veliz, Scarlett, Lankshear are all a level below the other youngsters technically/ability-wise though slightly less important for the forwards than Abbott.

Of all the academy youngsters Donley has the best football brain by far but is least physically developed except for Hall. By physically developed I mean have strong core/power/agility rather than what most people think off (height, physical makeup, etc). He looks fit and reads the game well but he's one-paced and lacks power/strength in his game (I've compared his style to Lo Celso previously and stand by that). I hope this is recognized within the club because if he can get some real core strength and bite to his game then he'd be phenomenal in my opinion.
~ Hall has many of the same issues as Donley does from a physical standpoint but it's worse because he's naturally smaller. It's even more important for him to get that power and burst in his game.

I'd get rid personally. He offers something different, but at a drop off in output.
Maybe a loan in this country for a year might help before we completely right him off .

a decent championship team playing to his strengths balls in the box . Stoke on a wet Wednesday night , Plymouth on a blustery Tuesday evening ! These sort of games will make or break him in England

He's not a kid though is he. We've got to be more ruthless with our squad turnover.

I just don't think he is good enough. His decision making is too slow and he makes the wrong decision too often, especially considering he's already took too long to make it.
He's different to the rest of our wingers, other than some slight similarities to Kulu. However, what he brings to the team we just don't need. In my humble opinion

The two matches against Bayern should sort out the men from the boys , I thought Hall especially looked off the pace against stronger opposition today .

What are peoples thoughts of Solomon in general and in comparison to Werner?

Don't see it with Solomon at all. Obviously caveated that he's just coming back from a long injury but his game seems pretty limited. He's not a player I would be concerned to face. Werner is Werner. Very good at beating his man and getting a ball in, but overall pretty meek and obviously a legendarily bad finisher.

I wonder if Shaktar will now accept that we didn't get a great bargain and probably did them a favour?
Can only see a season loan at best with the hope he can prove worthy of a future small transfer fee.

Yeah but we also need to be more ruthless with the 1st team members we already have . The squad needs trimming big time . There are at least 5-6 players that have been here many seasons that need shifting and the money would definitely come in handy now so we can improve not the squad , but the 1st 11

I agree. More ruthless all around.

I mentioned it before the game - but, I am not sure that Forster brings much value any more. I would not say he is our 2nd best keeper on merit. Experienced - yes. But, not sure he is really the 2nd best option.
Forster 100% as number 2, unless we bring in another seasoned keeper to challenged Vic, none of the keepers we have are close enough yet, more impressed with the younger ones though (keeley and gunter)
