I think one of the journos ( either Ally or Tom B ) said that another friendly is very unlikely and Ange thinks that he can do the work on the training pitch.Does anybody know if we have managed to arrange a behind closed doors game? It would make sense now we have Solanke and have an eight day gap before our season opener.
Not to mention the chances he played accross the box and the likes of Son and others had held back a little hoping for a cut back so the chances went begging.Bit harsh. 5 goals and 10 assists in the league last season. Not an awful haul for his first season.
Fingers crossed you are right because early last season every man, his dog and his ferret Nigel were saying he was the deal of the summer and a steal at £40milMaddison has been better in pre-season than he was at the end of last season. I think it's become a bit en vogue to bash him a bit, and people are missing what he's actually doing. Will look infinitely better with the first choice defence behind him, and an actual striker in front of him.
I don’t think people are turning on him. It’s pre season so he has a pass but there’s question marks over him and they seem to be the same that are on show in pre season. We all hope he comes good but he’s not convincingWow, people already turning on Johnson?
I think it's just a bit of his form wasn't good to end last season and a little bit of "shiny toy syndrome" with the encouraging play by Bergvall so far. Hell, there is a lot of negativity around Pape Sarr, who we have to remember is still only 21 years old.The Maddison bashing is very premature!
There were times last year, before the AFCON that Sarr was superb and I was looking at him thinking this kid could be a world beater.I think it's just a bit of his form wasn't good to end last season and a little bit of "shiny toy syndrome" with the encouraging play by Bergvall so far. It shows how much positivity we currently have with the youth that Gray/Bergvall are pushing for first XI spots as EIGHTEEN YEAR OLDS! Not to mention Mikey Moore.... it's a great issue to have at the moment.
There's going to be so many ups and downs this season with Gray, Bergvall, Moore, and Lankshear if they hang around. We will need the likes of Maddison, Biss, Bentancur, and co.
The only thing that is (again a good problem) a tad annoying is I feel anytime this season Maddison or Sarr, for example, has a bad match - there will be lots of shouts for one of the youngsters to replace them. My personal opinion is that Ange will give them ample opportunities but ease them in.
Agreed. I think once he starts to keep it simple and overthinking things then it will come together for him. He has all the natural ability in the world! There were times last year, before the AFCON that Sarr was superb and I was looking at him thinking this kid could be a world beater.
Following AFCON his levels dropped and he tailed off towards the end of the season (as can be expected somewhat from a young player) . Something still seems a bit off with him but if he can recover his early last season form he will play plenty for us.
There might be something to this. I imagine the idea of always having to play forward can mess with a player’s mind, make him overthink things.Agreed. I think once he starts to keep it simple and overthinking things then it will come together for him. He has all the natural ability in the world!
