Stay - not because he won the Europa, but because having listened to him explain the way he won it, and the knock on the the league, makes sense!
I think you have a point here particularly. I believe he probably did go somewhat against the higher-ups to significantly prioritise the Europa and his gamble paid off. And frankly it's about time we did that. I'm not sure this heavy league prioritisation is a Levy/whoever edict but it has sure seemed that way.
We could, and maybe should, have won - or done much better in - the Europa on multiple occasions in the last 20ish years. We had the team for it, a team that matched anyone in the competition. The one that infuriates me most is Redknapp functionally throwing the tie against Shakhtar in 2009, but there were many other times. Our piss-weak effort in the Conference League I even found absurd. That was our tournament for the taking and we functionally chose not to even try (no, the Rennes forfeit isn't an excuse because it shouldn't have mattered). Fucking win stuff. There is no tournament (that we would realistically be in) that we are too big to win, too big to bother with. And that's been the attitude from more than a few managers down the years, even including Pochettino, who played down the importance of winning the FA Cup in a press conference before an FA Cup tie. And in hindsight, Poch, was that pathetic elimination to Gent in 2016 worth finishing 3rd? Did we materially gain anything from that defeat? Hard to say.
I'm not necessarily saying Ange In, I'm on the fence, but on this I'm aligned with him. It was a huge gamble and it paid off for the club, but maybe it won't for him individually.
