Did anyone get the survey via email discussing the use of the Yid chant?

What's everyone's opinion on it?

Seemed a bit loaded to me

I have aired my opinion, wrote about 3 paragraphs on my whole view on it all. Took me about half hour to do that and go through all the questions.

The statements were a bit of a weird addition. What was that supposed to achieve?

Just checked my mails after reading this and have now completed this. Let's hope this gets the club backing the fans.

I'm a bit sceptical about this. Ultimately it is out of the club's hands so I don't think they can change anything even if they want to. I don't think they really have a stomach for the fight even if they could. I doubt they'd even read the responses. They are just using it as a PR exercise so at least they can claim to be on our side.

Is there any fear that this survey might be shared in order to make this thread less... exclusive

Survey isn't accessible again once it's been completed. Pretty standard stuff anyway.

Survey begins with some Spurs specific questions:

whether you're a season ticket holder or member; where you usually sit; how long you've been supporting Spurs; how many home and away games you attend per season; whether or not you sing the word "yid"

Then, by way of introduction, a number of quotes from various people on different sides of the "yid" word argument are presented before respondents are asked to give their own views on the issue. Responses were limited to 3072 characters, as I found out to my cost!

Then came some standard survey questions:

age; gender; ethnicity; religion

Finally, you are asked if you'd like to contribute further to the debate and, if so, for your contact details.

Not sure what new information they're expecting to gather from the survey, seems a little redundant to me. I can guess the findings now, most Spurs fans use the word 'yid', no spurs fan intends it to cause offence, David Baddiel is a hypocritical tit who would never use anything like a person's religion or ethnicity to get a laugh.

Here you go mate, this fella put it up online for non-members.

I suppose answers won't be considered - it's just fir interest sakes I suppose

I certainly hope so.

Last thing we need is this survey being open to all. Would allow fans of every other club to sabotage it and skew the result.

Felt it was pretty pointless. Having a free form response with not a single question on the use of the word yid doesn't give it as much usefulness as it could have had.

And the majority of the statements prior to the free form response definitely felt like they were weighted in favour of giving up the use of the word yid.

Quite why how many games I go to, home & away, where I stand, I mean sir, how long I have been a spurs fan has any relevance to the point of this survey is irrelevant and yet there were more questions on that.

This is exactly right. Looks like it is too late now. Boyhotspur (genius) has posted it for all.

That survey on the HH blog is clearly on Poll Daddy :geek: and the blurb makes that clear.

I think the fear of the Populous Survey being skewed is laughable. By who? Neo Nazis, crypto Nazis, 5th Columnists?

The survey is precisely that, not a vote on if the word should be banned or not. That option does not exist. If you were minded to skew it, you'd need to actually submit a cogent argument. And lots of different ones.

As a result, I'm calling this a fix, up front.

The sample of quotes were not balanced and the there was no simple yes or no. So we must believe that the information gleaned will be used to establish, then support a decision. Which all sounds to me like waiting to find out if you're accepted to be a Freemason.

The Club shop will not stock any merchandise with the Y word on it, not even books.
They want to do away with it.
The end is nigh.

:(

It doesn't take much imagination to understand how such a survey could be skewed if it was made open to all.

Perhaps you didn't notice last year when Judas was voted into Spurs fans' all time PL team according to the results of an open to all poll on the club's official facebook and twitter pages? How did it happen? Simple. Because Arsenal fans got wind of the poll and piled in to vote.

Given any opportunity to piss Spurs fans off, you can guarantee that Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham fans (among others) will take it. Perfectly understandable. We'd do the same to them.
