Why Vertonghen? He’s not a contract rebel as far as I was aware? ?‍♂️

He actually wanted a new deal??
As far as I'm concerned Vertonghen is part of the mess, defensively his been left wanting especially without a proper DM for pace, his positioning has also been poor going back to last season. I get his super Jan Vertonghen for many but imo the partnership between Jan and Toby is very poor now, we've lost so many games with that pairing, it has to be said -like it or lump it- we are far much more secure with Sanchez and one other.

Poch has always been very honest with the media but some times diplomacy should be a priority and sometimes its best to keep things to yourself.

Probably explains why he sat out a few games when he was apparently fine to play. If he's been told he's going to get shoved out it's 1) a piss poor bit of man management and 2) A rock solid reason why senior players look like they can't be bothered. It's no way to treat a player who's given so much to the club IMO.
Maybe Vertonghen's been poor in his behaviour or training ( especially now his best mates left) . Maybe he hasn't met his fitness requirements. I'm personally behind the manager when it comes to the players.

So why is he still playing them all then? It's not as if he doesn't have a choice.

Your not serious are you. Can you imagine our 1st team at the moment without Jan,Toby,Eriksen & Rose

2 transfer windows without a single signing

Poch has not been backed 100% by the Chairman who is always the common denominator in all these Spurs dramas

Really thought Poch was the one. Obviously Danny Boy has other ideas (again)

But they're not the same players. It's not the same Toby, Jan, Rose and Eriksen if they don't want to be here.

Davies and Sessegnon can play left back, and why the fuck is Wanyama getting minutes? Pochettino has to be braver.

Football Insider is a fake news site. Utter nonsense
This is a key issue here. It seems odd in this era that people read speculation like this and interpret it as fact.

It's fair to say players were given the opportunity to leave if they wished - Eriksen, Rose, Wanyama among them. But pitching this as some tension between Poch and Levy is just made up. And certainly Poch if Poch thought this was needed and urgent, there's little point railing about it now when there was a whole summer window to implement a plan.

As with a majority of our seasons, the start of this one stinks. But if Poch-era precedence kicks in, it should change in the coming weeks.

So the report says a Tottenham source has told him that.

My view, this Tottenham source is just a Spurs Internet forum, and it is a 2+2=5 story

Their source always seems to be Danny Mills and for insider info it seems to be “wot I fink”

completely agree

there maybe some resemblance of truth as some player will leave soon enough but we wont be ditching and buying 5 players in January

lots to happen between here and then.

Also I have to admit that once I read what one of our favourite ITKs has had to say on Twitter, I feel much better bout the whole situation

Don’t understand why he doesn’t just stick the contract rebels in the reserves and play people who are actually committed to the club. He did it before with poisonous characters and if the Eriksen situation is indeed upsetting the dressing room then deal with it.

Obviously we don’t know what is going on behind closed doors but what ever is causing disruption needs to be nipped in the bud asap and its the managers responsibility to deal with that. As much as I detested Alex Ferguson he wouldn’t have tolerated this bollocks.

Why would we stick Alderweireld in the reserves when he's been a complete professional and remains one of our best players?

RE Ferguson: Apart from the fact he did when Rooney was being an arsehole he got the club to give him a new contract.

Absolutely this - I'd rather end up in 10th place with a team of players that want to be there and give everything they have in a match than end up in a EL place with this current situation.

He maybe one of our most professional players but the fact remains he has not signed a contract and therefore is not committed to the club long term. Poch should therefore be brave and make an example of these players. He can’t play Toby and make an example of Eriksen, he has to treat alike or he will well and truly lose the dressing room.

As for Rooney, maybe Fergie did but Poch is clearly not in charge of contracts and as such the ball lies in Levy’s court. Maybe this is one of the issues that Poch has?
