I was happier with team selection today.
More so because it showed he DOES have the balls to change things and drop the big names.
Stay of execution for me.

He needs to find the balls to drop Kane and Dele. Ok, you can argue Dele needs some time to develop game fitness, but Kane was utter pants today, barely jogging around and not really getting involved. We desperately need a second striker to play with Son and Lucus when Kane needs a rest or is out of form.

Three wins from 12 is abysmal. We've really fallen off a cliff in terms of urgency, hunger, and organization.

I think he'll be given time, but that could evaporate if we don't string some wins together to move solidly into the top half.

The grim prospect of an eventless mid table campaign is almost the optimistic view.

So most games then. It's frightening to see how bang average he's been for a good 12 months now if not more.
No competition will do that to you.

Well he has actually been saying this since May, but whatever.

Problem is that we should have been constantly rebuilding in the summer of 2018 and last January. And he's as much to blame for that as anyone. So he's made this rod for his back himself.

Either the players are deliberately doing it themselves or he is deliberately instructing them to do the same thing time and time again. It’s so painfully obvious that everyone can see it.
Why do we have this constant obsession with breaking forward and then coming to a complete standstill 25-35 yards from goal. On coming to this standstill we then seem to wait for the opposition to comfortably set themselves into formidable defensive formations and then we try ridiculous eye of the needle pea roller through balls that stand almost next to no chance of finding our own player because they are more often than not being marked by 3 players.

It either happens when we breakout wide or when we break through the middle. The wide player comes to a standstill at almost exactly the same line on 25 to 35 yards out and the ball is slowly rolled to a player in the middle being marked by two to three players, and that happens because we allow the opposition plenty of time to regroup and put 3 men onto 1. Or it’s rolled into the edge of the box with again 2 to three men on one.

Even when our wide players isolate players out wide one on one with the occasional quick pass, instead of going for broke and cutting in and then firing a quick pass, 9 times out of 10, that wide player stops dead and allows the defence and age to set itself into position. It then looks like deja vu as the ball is inevitably rolled into a defensive brick wall that’s allowed ample time to build itself into a protective brick wall.

What is equally frustrating is that our defence time and time again switches off and either moves slowly into the middle allowing oppositions said players acres of space in dangerous wide positions to do the damage time and time again, only excellent saves from Gazzaniga or fluffed shots inside the box because the wide players are given time to put them to attackers get us off the hook. I’ve watched this time and time again, and it doesn’t matter whether the opposition is Liverpool Brighton Sheffield Utd or Newcastle. The same thing is happening time and time again.

Either the players are deliberately ignoring instructions and engaging in this predictable stupidity rinse and repeat or the manager and coaching staff are telling them to do it. On the rare occasions we’ve abandoned this nonsense for games and we’ve moved and switched the ball quickly we’ve had success, Palace and the two Belgrade games exemplify this. It’s not just down to how good or shit the opposition is, I’m not buying into that it’s not just as simple as saying, because Belgrade were absolute shite and so were Palace, that we were able to do it, I’m more inclined to say it happened because we were bold enough to try that quick passing and pressing, it even worked for half an hour in that disastrous game at home to Bayern, in most of these other games we’ve reverted to this turgid slow predictable shite and the results have been underwhelming to say the least.

I want to frog march our players and coaching staff into a room and play back these games and force them to watch it and stop it at the points they are repeating these mistakes and showing them how different the end product is when they move quickly but unfortunately I can’t. I want to show them other replays of City and Liverpool and Leicester and Chelsea and even Sheffield Utd doing this and in Sheffield Utd’s case them doing it often against us but I can’t.

If we can all see what’s happening why the f*ck can’t they ?

Deli was doing his usual showboating with very little substance or end product. Aurier and Dier can’t pass a simple ball, even when they’re not under pressure. Until we can get a settled starting back four, we’ll continue to leak goals. Any one of the top four would have scored four or more goals against us yesterday. The second half was much better for us going forward though. Lo Celso looks quality and will only get better. Son was also very classy and deserved his goal. I didn’t think that Kane was that bad, just didn’t get a lot of service. Was a bit perplexing at one point in the second half when he tried to walk through three players and failed miserably. Davies was just Davies. Winks looked up for it when he came on. Sissoko still isn’t himself sadly. But there’s enough there to suggest Poch might turn this season around yet. Dropping the disinterested and toxic Eriksen is a good start!

If he's going to be given time to use the next transfer window he'll need to get any signings integrated quickly, the way other teams do, instead of insisting they need months of training before they get a chance. There are a few encouraging signs (Ndombele and Lo Celso primarily) but the rest of the squad are woefully under par except for Son.

yet sticking Sanchez straight in after signing him. Funny how the six months it takes to be indoctrinated into pochs mystical philosophy and fitness regime becomes a few days when the signing is a big strong defensive player.

I'm not sure if I was a player at the club I'd be over the moon with comments like that.
Does he mean I'm not good enough and I'm gonna be shown the door?
The other day he was slated for saying he had no problems with Eriksen’s form. Now he’s criticised for saying we need to be better. I’d be very surprised if the form of the team had gone unnoticed by the players and what Poch said came as a shock. Anyone who really thinks this is good enough needs shipping out.

Sorry but I'm tired of this same old song. It's been a year with the same excuse. If he can't get the service needed and he knows it, as I'm sure he does, the why doesn't he go up to his manager and say that it needs fixing? Or, he's been found out and doesn't have the ability to break through 3 players at a time, but that is again down to the manager and the prep work that should but doesn't go into the training regime.

Nah, we have come too far to rebuild, if he cannot take this talent we have and get them where they should be then we need to try and get someone in who can before it is too late.

I agree but you know what delicate little flowers some of these professional footballers are. Probably ran crying into the loving arms of their agents as soon as they heard.
