Not on his salary you wouldn't.;)
He just needs to be professional and stop being 'the story'.
It's probably some cunningly clever and dastardly Machiavellianesk ruse to confuse the footballing world.
Who says I'm not ;)

I think it was a response born out of frustration. After all, he's a self confessed emotional person, and those emotions clearly got the better of him which happens to all of us.

I think you are being 'very kind' to him.
Personally, I'd tell him to grow the 'heck' up and do the job your paid £8m pa for and stop all this hissy fitting.

I don’t find the lack of “Plan Bs” worrying. In my mind stopping the settling for B or C on the list was the first battle Poch had to have with Levy. Going down the list is what left us stuck with Janssen or GKD. Last summer Poch said he’d rather have nothing than inferior options.

Did Liverpool move on to Plan B when they couldn’t get Van Dijk two summers ago? No, they waited for their man. This is what Poch is trying to get Levy to see, that there are very few players who fit his specific requirements of talent, mentality, and application, and he’d rather not sign anyone than sign those who don’t fit the bill.
Agree that we shouldn't be settling for B or C, however Liverpool ending up paying what Southampton wanted which was a world record fee for a defender, are we willing to do that to get plan A? Should we be doing so, probably not, but there is a difference in how we operate to how Liverpool did last summer whilst flush with Coutinho money.

The problem with only one option and a reluctant seller is that something has to give somewhere to get it over the line, be that them or us moving on price. With the deadline looming it's a game of chicken.

It could simply be the reaction of a manager hoping to build a PL winning squad who has been told that he wont be getting the players he asked for.
He has always been loyal to the chairman and the club in the past but maybe he feels let down by a lack of support.

Well, I'm working under the assumption that on top of the repetitive questioning he's also got a bout of gut ache and he needed to nip to the bog!!

The 'question' asked was pathetic "Lamela looked sharp what do you think?"

how is that a pathetic question? its asking about the performance of a player that has just played? there was no need for the mumbo jumbo response.

I'm pretty sure that Poch and Levy talk enough that if Poch was that unhappy Levy would know about it without it going via the papers and if Levy was unhappy with what Poch was saying then Poch would know it and be asked to tone it down. Poch isn't Mourinho and has a good relationship with Levy and the board.

I dont believe for a minute that he has no say in transfers but the club are happy for him to put that view across to distract from questioning in the conferences.

Is he stating a fact, asking a question or both is he asking Poch to challenge his opinion? He answered his own question before asking it

Guess what Poch is a head coach and isn't responsible for transfers. Name a "manager" that is?

I wish people would watch his pressers instead of relying on the print media's spin

Yep, i read the 'Poch Furious' headline from the Mirror......written by an Arsenal fan. You watch the clip and he's actually smiling when he says they should change his title to 'Coach'.

Whatever generates clicks I guess, sad thing is our fans will lap it up, should have seen the state of twitter last night.

These journous have a hell of an easy job, fans create a narrative themselves and hacks just abuse the fuck out of it.

I just watched. He was annoyed when he sat down and he didn't really answer any questions. Just made his point that at the moment he is just coaching. Levy is dealing with the ins and outs. My guess is he expected a couple of more ins by now and he's annoyed.

Or he was annoyed when he sat down 'cos he'd just been on the phone to his wife and she'd crashed the car ! Agree that he did look a bit grumpy originally but unless you know the exact reason (which could be absolutely anything, hence my flippant remark) then you are just speculating, and could easily be jumping to the wrong conclusion.

I think it's not a coincidence that the longest he spoke for was when he was actually asked a football question!

And fwiw my take on his 'im just the coach' speech is quite possibly because he wants, and needs, to distance himself from any of the harsh decisions that go on regarding playing staff, just in case they don't go through. Much better for DL to be the bad guy to Danny Rose, for example, so that if Danny stays he doesn't feel he's working under a coach who doesn't actually rate or want him. By Poch saying he's just the coach and doesn't deal with ins/outs then every player that stays must surely feel better about the situation than if they thought Poch was responsible ???

I love "the mumbo jumbo response". You are being very generous to our ̶ ̶̶̶m̶̶̶̶̶̶̶a̶̶̶̶̶̶̶n̶̶̶̶̶̶̶a̶̶̶̶̶̶̶g̶̶̶̶̶̶̶e̶̶̶̶̶̶̶r̶̶̶̶̶̶̶ sorry coach!

I find it odd that some think he seemed “happy” in any way shape or form. His “just a coach” comments are stark and controversial enough to make the headlines on most sports outlets.

99% of all this drivel was exacerbated by Poch being a mischevious git last night. he is probably in the middle of a row with 'The Trouble', I recognise the signs.

It was manufactured by Poch by people seem to think that he's pissed off with Levy over transfers, when in reality he's probably just pissed off with the journos. I watched the interview and his body language was off from the start, he was short with them and answering questions without even thinking about them.

He was a lot different immediately after the match in his interview by the way, more forthcoming and more easier.

But I guess the I'm not a manager, just a coach narrative is easier to sell seeing as the fans think there's trouble going on behind the scenes.
