Mauricio Pochettino says the legacy as Tottenham manager was guiding the club to a higher level and into the new stadium, ranking that above winning trophies.

We never looked like winning either of them, but Poch did really well for us. I think Leicester had a season where just everything went right for them and as far as the CL goes, I didn't think we were worthy but we could have sneaked it. We just were not good enough. In the final the players didn't look like they believed. Poch I think was shocked we actually got to the final

The stadium legacy will always be Levy's.
If Pochettino wants a legacy anywhere, then he has to win trophies.
They don't just build the ego - they build the cv as well and without them the top clubs will be cautious about appointing him.

Well besides for the fact Pochettino turned a club with little resources compared to the other 5 into a perennial top 4 club with Daniel Levy as his chairmen. There is a very good reason why he’s still coveted amongst the top clubs in football.

He’s also the reason we were even in a position to bring in one of the best managers to ever do it to save our season

I miss this guy :(

What an incredible manager. There is no doubt whatsoever he will be a major success at a club that has the ambition to win trophies as it's primary objective.

I really really miss him too

Honestly part of my love for tottenham died when he got fired. I honestly never thought that will ever happen. Its the feeling of breaking up with the one you thought you were gonna marry

I'm not gonna be popular and sometimes I wonder why I bother posting when I know I'll get slatted for not toeing the party line but fk it here goes lol.
Poch did an amazing job, amazing, but the stadium was happening with or without him so he cant take credit for that. Sorry.
As for leaving a legacy, hhmmm?
We had a great run but nothing more than that and we have nothing to show for it.
For me thats not leaving a legacy.
I still look back at our league cup win with more satisfaction than anything Poch achieved. Sure some dont but I do, and obviously getting to a cl final is tougher than winning the league cup but I'll take winning that over losing a cl final any day.
Winning is everything, 2nd place is nowhere and nobody remembers coming 2nd. Thats not leaving a legacy in my eyes.
Making history by winning trophies is what I dream of not 2nd or 3rd place and losing.
Unpopular opinion maybe but hey ho.
I really do think that we will win something under JM purely because he is the luckiest fkin manager I've ever seen lol. But he goes out to win things. Poch didnt and thats always stuck in my craw.

Poch was a good guy everyone was a friend of his. With Mourinho he isn't friends with everyone, but he tells it like it is and its more to do with respect where he has it for someone or not or they have it for him or not
The players believed in Poch because they liked him and also he brought their fitness levels up like crazy. Mourinho its not that simple he expects everyone to come to the game guns blazing. Yes he was soft at first now you will see the real Mourinho. Poch's talk of United is music to Mourinho's ears.

Legacy. Romantic words do not hurt anyone, but 50 years from now we will still talk about Bill, Greaves, Hoddle, King etc, but not Pochettino.

I will miss the early Pochettino for years, but objectively speaking there will be no more "legacy" left by Pochettino than a bunch of highly loved players and coaches over the years. Certainly nothing close to the names mentioned (and many more before Pochettino).

....if we continue on our upward trend and become more successful.

Whilst unlikely, if on the other hand we start regressing without any silverware we may look back on this period as a successful period.

I truly don't get the negatives below this post. It's spot on.

If we had continued on the path we were on 16/17 then absolutely. Pochettino would have still been here and he could have built a legacy.

Now we are basically back to where Pochettino started. Occasionally top 4. I don't have any strong views as to who is to blame for things not being as good as they were some years ago. It might be mostly Levy, we might have been a bit unlucky with key players getting injured etc., but whatever happened Pochettino was just as much a part of things getting worse as he was when things were getting better.

Poch was a great bloke and we respect what he gave us but maybe this is his way of covering over the lack of trophies that sadly eluded him and the club.
I do think that Jose will bring success because he doesn't deal in anything less along with recruiting player's who will want to play for a manager like him.

Disagree with this. The man changed the personality of this club. Jose wouldn't be here right now if not for the work he did.

The club's first CL final, and highest league finish in decades, and he has no legacy? Nonsense.

Looking at it objectively, Poch will be remembered, imo, in the same way Martin Jol will. Jol was instrumental in raising us from a mid table team to a European challenger/regular. Redknapp took us a step further, but it was Poch raised us to the level of title challengers.

The reality is that none of the above actually won us anything, but all have been instrumental in getting us to the point where JM can possibly achieve a legacy that we all crave, that of trophies and, dare I say it, the title that has eluded us for so long.

Jol laid the foundations, Redknapp added to them and Poch built the superstructure. It's now time for Mourinho to finish the building off so we can fill it with ornaments.

What kind of personality change would that be? Spending half a year sulking over a loss? Not winning away for a year? On track to less points in the league than when Pochettino took over?

I gues no need for that discussion all over again, and I have no problem seeing that others have another take on it, but nonsense? That is just nonsense and uncalled for.
