Worst kept secret unfortunately.

Wonder who he'll try and poach off us in summer.

"Pochettino cut a relaxed and convivial figure during an hour-long chat with Sky Sports' Natalie Pinkham"

I think I would too. In fact, more than an hour would be better.

I don't know. I personally think that the Poch era will be remembered as one of the most critical periods in the club's history as we transitioned and moved to a different level - in terms of our world class new stadium that involved considerable investment but at the same time consistently qualifying for the top 4 with relatively limited funds. Yes we did not win a trophy which has I suppose is the objective of any team, which leaves everyone with positive memories and emotional highs. But I would still consider his term as very "successful" indeed. Will always be grateful for what he has done.

Having said that I also fully understand Jose's appointment. A proven manager and one of the most successful winners in club football history. If I was Daniel Levy I would go down a similar path. Provide funds to a manger who has journeyed down a path of success in the past - several times. As opposed to going down a loyalty based - perhaps even somewhat emotional - approach of backing Poch to win trophies and achieve success, even though he has never done it before. If we were playing good football and winning matches then it would have been even tougher but the fact that we had tapered off as a team for nearly an year perhaps almost forced his hand.

So I guess I would say - Thank you very much Mauricio Pochettino. We will always be grateful for what you have done and achieved for us - and you will always be remembered and welcomed. But it was probably the right time to conclude the project and for the baton to be passed on to the likes of Jose Mourinho..

Poch can do whatever he likes and we can have no complaints. I'm sure his pay off had some sort of clause to keep him out of the EPL for some time and it looks like he's biding his time (and probably Man Utd are too). When, not if, he returns ,he'll be reinvigorated and good luck to him wherever he resurfaces.

In a way, and I hate to say this, I hope he does come back and makes Levy look a mug!

Although the media agents of Manchester United have long had him 'linked' to that club —along with 109 players in the summer transfer window, according to Ed Woodward complaining about that weeks later —evidence of Poch and United is circumstantial and no more than that. Latest was Poch being seen talking with Neil Ashton, until very recently senior football reporter at the Daily Mail but just recently taken on by Ed Woodward to run public relations for United. Where were they talking? Griffin Park the other day when Brentford were playing Leeds United. It was to 'meet' supposedly for Manchester United purposes. Yet nobody pushing all this in the media acknowledged that Poch was more likely there to meet his old friend and mentor Bielsa, on one of his team's rare visits to London, who oversees Leeds these days.

Don't underestimate the recruitment strategy of Manchester City, a club in a state and general condition far more likely to attract Pochettino than shambolic Manchester United. I've heard this pooh-poohed on one presenter's radio show today but in a shallow and unconvincing way. Poch would have the budget and the likelihood of continuing that club's recent successes and in the process see his winning of trophies far more likely than at United. I suspect that Pep Guardiola's recent comments that he could lose his job if City don't beat Real Madrid was based on an awareness that for a while now his employers at City have been shortlisting his possible successors if not from the next few weeks then towards the end of the season.

Casual users of glib football media should be more analytical about the mutual recognition of common interest between Manchester City and Pochettino, than led along by glib headline writers trying to feed the United fan-lust for Poch.

Breaking News that may affect this: Manchester City banned from Europa League and European Champions League for the next two seasons. And they've been fined about £25m.

And interestingly, the newspaper 'back pages' two-way discussion and interview with journalist Simon Johnson( sp?) going on just after midnight Saturday on Talksport Radio, reports that Pochettino and a stint at City is rather more likely than not.

Wouldnt be surprised. They’ll have to sell quite a few of their players due to cl ban(hope we try to pip madrid to Sterling) Poch is the perfect manager to oversee a club through a difficult period

Sounds like the kind of thing you'd put out there if you wanted to hurry Utd into sacking their flop of a manager asap.
