A “very disappointed” Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino was left seething after his team threw away a 2-0 lead in Greece, drawing Olympiacos in its first UEFA Champions League match of the season.

Maybe there's something wrong with your planning MP

"When we are not showing that intensity that the competition demands we struggle. We are not talking about quality. We're talking about being focused, concentrated, aggressive, anticipating the action. How many times did we anticipate today? How many times we were not proactive like we were against Palace.

That is a very good example in three days, it's a massive difference. It's not about tactics, it's not about quality players, it's about the quality of preparing yourself to be ready to fight.

At this type of level you need to match the opponent in terms of intensity, aggression, in excitement and motivation and then is going to appear your quality when you are connected with the game. That's the first demand you need to work with. It's not only the responsibility of one person. It's everyone's responsibility and it's not possible to, in three days, how we start the game today be a massive difference. That is my disappointment."

So primarily MP is bemoaning the lack of application from the players. He obviously demands that high level of intensity - which has historically been a hallmark of his teams - but for whatever reason that is not being carried out by our players consistently any more.

Is that the fault of the manager of the individuals on the pitch? A bit of both I would imagine but not a result of improper planning.

I'd have to ask what the consequences are likely to be for players who don't show the required levels of committment. Sadly, I fully expect the same players to be mostly turning out v Leicester though.

And maybe it is very hard to produce that intensity in 30 degree heat like the game was played in last night.
If his plan was intensity in that stifling weather, then maybe the plan was ill conceived.

Perhaps if the team hadn't packed with players struggling for form and fitness, we might have done better?

Our press has completely disappeared. There is absolutely no effort being made to win the ball back lately. Most players seem happy to give their man at least 2 metres space giving them all the time in the world to control the ball, turn and then pick a pass. First goal conceded last night and the goal conceded against Newcastle are perfect examples of this.

My conclusion is that the players are no longer playing for each other or their manager which is not really surprising if we believe the reports that Eriksen, Toby, Verts, Lloris all have one eye on the exit door. I think we have big problems brewing. Every team has a 5 year lifespan and sadly it seems that this Spurs team may have had it’s best days. A huge and expensive overhaul is required which obviously seems unlikely.

It came back against Palace, that's the most confusing thing - last night we were very passive.

It came back for the first half against palace. And unfortunately that decent first 45 minutes has been an exception from the usual turgid displays that have been a regular occurrence this calendar year.

Yeah I think we chilled after HT because the game was won by then so I guess that makes sense, the point is that it came back so we are more than capable of pulling it off, why we reverted to low intensity football last night is beyond me.

So what's the fucking plan? No one can discern it, including it seems the players. Something's definitely wrong. This isn't a one-off, it's been this way for about a year.

Team selection and sending on subs is definitely Poch's responsibility. Alli and Eriksen were shockingly bad and Ndombele looked fatigued after 30 mins. The subs came far too late and Sanchez at RB over KWP is not good.

Pochettino is very good at doing negative, demotivating and confusing press conferences in which he criticises everything and everybody. Maybe he should look in the mirror at what he is doing. Brilliant decisions like playing Davinson at full back! Get a grip Poch. If managing Spurs is so bad and so demeaning maybe you should move on. The club is bigger than you.
