Didn't Levy mess up a deal to offload Wanyama by pushing for an extra £1-2m when he really should've been taking any offer he could get?
Doubt it actually. Don't get me wrong I'm positive that Levy at times has been the main culprit in a failed deal. But I very much doubt that he is always the only/main problem in every single deal that falls through, inclusive this one.

A few weeks old but I still agree with a lot Paul Hawksbee says here

The only lifeline or should I say stay of execution that Poch has is his 3 summer signings are now all fit. He has to drop the twats, play them and hope they hit the ground running. He can build a new era but if he continues to play the woeful out of form and once hero’s instead of Sess, TN and GLC then he can sod off.

I think one of his strengths and faults is that he's happy to take the blame and is very media shy. A lot of other chairman would be writing columns or doing interviews to rebut a lot of the stuff, but he just gets on with it. I think that leads people to assume every rumour is true.

Fair enough, mate. I don't know any more about what goes on behind the scenes for real than anyone else, which is probably not very much!

The reported issue at the time was that Vic didn't want to fly to Belgium because he was nervous after the Sala thing, then he started asking for more money, then Brugges or whoever it was asked us to cover his extra wage and we wouldn't. Or something along those lines.

His midfield against Sheffield United was Ndombele, Lo Celso and Sissoko. They were over-run and outplayed. That's not a question of talent, it's a question of tactics.

The travel aspect is a bit confusing. I hate flying so I totally understand but northern Europe is easily accessible by boat or rail.

Not really in the first half to be honest, and Ndombele went off at half time and was clearly struggling. But I get your point.

you can’t use turnover as the measure of the quality of an achievement when it’s not related to the ability to assemble a world class squad.

It's not the only factor obviously but there's definitely a relationship between turnover and ability to assemble a world class squad. The combination of the way FFP works and the vastly inflated fees/wages flying about mean that to buy a team of world class players you either need a massive turnover like Man Utd or you need to cheat and find "creative" ways of bypassing FFP like City and PSG have tried to do.

If everyone played by the rules, the bigger turnover you have the more you are able to spend on players, which means that you have more ability to assemble a team of world class players. Obviously there's no guarantee that an expensive signing will always be a good signing, but to say they're not related at all is just wrong IMO.

While tactically suspect this is the same manager who got us 2nd in the league and to the final of the Champions League so he’s obviously not that bad.

It is unlikely he is the main problem.

Looking at the team it’s clear a lot of players have been bought over the last few years who aren’t good enough. On top of that many of our better players want to leave to earn higher wages and maybe win a trophy.

When you then go back through this forum you see the there has been a running theme of poor transfer strategy with the majority of our Managers. Quality players have left to be replaced with average ones time and again.

So the real fault probably lies there. But as always the Manager gets attacked while the deeper flaws in the way the club is run carry on.

A transfer of Wanyama to Bruges FC, IIRC, had been set up this summer but late in the process he turned it down. He said afterwards that he wanted 'to fight for my place' in the Spurs side.
