I do wonder if there's a certain amount of giving Eriksen the rope to hang himself with or whatever the expression is. By that I mean maybe Poch has let him play for a while to demonstrate how poor his effort is so that he can just stick him in the reserves or whatever and there will be no complaints from anyone, even people who are on Eriksen's side.

He's had enough rope to re rig a tall ship FFS!

As much as I'm still a pochmainer, I would love to understand why he persists with Eriksen.
From yesterdays game.

Whilst I appreciate 1 game doesn't give the whole picture, it does point to a complete lack of substance to his game. It's hardly the first time.

For me, this is the most baffling thing. I just can't understand it. The faith he puts in a player that is not doing anything to help him out. Is it some.sort of instruction? A new way of playing? I dont get it.
Disgraceful. Eriksen needs to be shipped out immediately.

Well clearly it wasn't the win of the most inconsequential silverware that was so haunting, and you know it. The decision to sack Jol and hire the flavour of the month was.

Not that I'm one to turn my nose up at any trophy success, but come on. It barely registered in the big scheme of things.

It's what has come to define our football club. Our last trophy. Our last glory. I wouldn't say it hasn't registered in the big scheme of things. I loved that day and that match and is 100 times more satisfying than finishing top four and choking every big occasion.

Wait, we are defined by a Carling Cup win 10 years ago? Its worse than I thought.

You are of course fully entitled to your opinion but I respectfully disagree.

But there have been many big occasions in the last years that we didn't choke, and many famous wins that we've all enjoyed. Maybe there there wasn't players jumping up and down on a podium at the end, but is that really 100 times more satisfying than beating Real Madrid, Ajax, Man City, all the derbies etc.? Its been an incredible ride...

I’d really love to know what it is that people think is going to change if he continues. For all the fear of us getting worse under someone else, we aren’t going to get any better under him at the moment, so what’s the difference?

I honestly feel that we could get relegated, and some would still not want him gone because of how they felt in 15/16, or in May/June this year. The truth is he’s done very well, but he’s also missed some very good opportunities to do even better, and the team is now is now in decline under him. He’s got to go, and go soon.
I originally supported Poch and given his past results wanted to give him time. I have now changed my vote as I am not convinced many managers can turn things around once results are bad for so long.

We made 3 positive signings in the summer. I believe we'd have been better off if we had been able to sell the likes of Eriksen and Alderweireld, possibly Vertonghen too.

These players can't stay forever in their current state of mind.

So I guess the hope is Poch is able to rebuild and get us playing as a team like we did so well for 3 seasons.

But as he keeps playing the players that aren't trying, doesn't appear to be developing the young players and we don't put in the same work rate I just don't see Poch as the man for the rebuild.

I loved Poch bur think he should go. He's just making me angry now and ruining a great legacy he spent years building with the club.

Poch's man-management skills are just non-existant. I felt really bad for Sess. Really exciting for him to join the club, had to wait his time rehabilitate and to earn his place and then his debut for us is a meaningless 60 secs at the end of a mediocre game. Must be crushing for him

IMO it’s probably about 50/50 now with the Poch in/out

Levy won’t sack him until it’s at least 70/30 get rid. Doesn’t want to come across as the baddie just yet and face the prospect of many supporters questioning his policies and strategy

Butter wouldn’t melt in old Danny boys mouth and he'll not sack him until the atmosphere becomes more poisonous and our position in the league is even worse.

He will therefore, and with a heavy heart (cough cough) have no choice!!

If it crushes him - which I doubt it will given he's been a first teamer since he was a pre-teen - then we've bought another pup who cracks under any sort of pressure..

I don't mean it will crush his career but will crush his spirit. Something we're desperately lacking at the moment.

It just sumes up Poch the moment. Really counter-intuitive management and ignorant of basic psychology.

Pretty sure he hasn't been a first teamer since he was 12.

The sole point of bringing him on at all was to waste time when we were down to 10 and had just conceded. As a pro footballer, he would be fully aware and it will not have made him question the decision to join. Other things might at present, but deffo not this. Here's a link explaining how the PL have tried to address something you see in nearly every game of football, regardless of the level.

I'm surprised that it hasn't swung more if I'm honest. This game was so predictable and the worrying thing for me is that I'm not seeing any improvements. Bar Red Star aside things are actually getting worse.

Relegation although highly unlikely is entirely possible and it would be arrogant to think otherwise.

0 wins from 12 away games

6 wins from 23 league games

23 defeats from 45 games

10 points from the top 4 and 4 points from relegation.

Relegation form over a long period.

He's a wonderful manager but things come to an end.

Don’t know how anyone can read that and not think we are in the utter shit.

We have now become a team where finishing in the top 4 is EXPECTED every season and while that in itself is extremely positive we have no right whatsoever to be in such illustrious company when comparing our spending since Mauricio took over. IMHO, as supporters, we get behind the guy and allow to him to finish his rebuilding, because the alternative will bring chaos to our new 5 year plan.

Being brought on to waste time protecting a 1-0 lead hardly makes him Sess feel any more valued. If Poch decided to bring him on after conceding, then that makes it worse.

Who gives a fuck honestly, it's hardly going to affect him, he's a big boy he'll understand the circumstance.

This is just an unnecessary dig at Poch, it's boring - pick another subject, there's plenty to get at Poch with.

The team is in transition, people. It could have been more of an evolution but we are where we are. Who best to rebuild it? Poch who built the best team we've had in decades and who identifies with the club. If we sack him we'll most likely be like Arsenal with an Emery in 12 months.
The same Arsenal currently five points ahead of us in the league with a far inferior squad?
