So that's it then? The "project" is over? The momentum of our rise over the last 4(ish) years took us way higher than we expected (aka. we overachieved, aka. we punched above our weight, aka. we also had a bit of luck) and are now returning to the correct level of buoyancy?

#pochin
I think it's been "it" for a good while - the project, in reality, run its course a good while back and those who were prepared to back him for the sake of the club foretold how this story would end. Looking back with the benefit of hindsight, it was kind of inevitable to be brutally honest. It's easy to fall in the trap and say just look how much he has done for the club, but in reality, he had the building blocks of a very good and energetic squad ready to go. Poch built on that with his own system and suddenly we were capable, in fact very capable of beating teams we all felt we had no right to. Poch's system was a fundamentally easy system to get to work if you had the right players and we all fell in love with it. If only Poch himself had realised that his system alone was not enough and he needed a workable solution to plan A when it doesn't go right or breaks, then Poch could be lauded with real admiration. In essence, the biggest task he could face is the one he could provide nothing for - Life after the Poch press, was there really ever a long term and workable plan?

In a sense I agree but I don’t think Dier is the solution either, at least as the first choice in the position. We are badly missing what Liverpool and City have. Robust DMs who are comfortable in possession.
Long term I agree, I'm not even sure how good Dier is anymore. But I'm talking more in the short term. The fact is our entire back line needs fixing. The fact we are actually hoping Foyth and Sess are back fit soon says it all, considering how young and raw they are.

I would love to know from all of the "Out" brigade who the hell they think we are going to get in his place?

Well , I notice that many sides now do a very effective high press . Their managers seem to be able to get the players to respond to their plans with energetic players start to finish . We are at the point where our manager is only occasionally able to do this .

So a manager who can get the players fit and energetic for the full 90 minutes is needed . So weird that that was our USP when Poch arrived ,that was his unique MO ....and now its often other teams who have the intensity and us who can only do it for short periods . Bizarre turnaround .

Pep said that players stop listening to their manager after 3 years . It looks very like this has sadly well and truly kicked in .

Out for me. I’ve said before that I think we have a great squad and I’d be excited to see what Mourinho would do with them. We don’t need a rebuild, if our current manager believes that we do who’s fault is that? It’s not very good management to build something for 5 years and then one day decide we need to start again.

Long term success ?

He has been at the club 5.5 years - that is long term and he has done well.

Most managers at clubs are now 2 seasons - lots of Arsenal fans want Emery to leave. It’s modern football. Pepe is an exception as country backed.
Success is subjective and means different things to everyone - You are right though he has had a long term relatively speaking, but the done well part? I think that ended a while back in my opinion.

People need to start looking beyond the manager. It's clear that the people above him are the issue.
What's clear is that for some their man crush on Pochettino is stronger than their support for Spurs. 12 months and counting of poor performances, there is nothing to suggest he will turn it round. How can you justify his persistence with the diamond, and refusal to use the 4231 that is proven to work for us?

i voted stay but we need a huge momentum shift as it's all downhill currently.

everyone looks at zidane and ole but poch's on seriously thin ice imo whether his doing or not and some of his tactical decision making (the diamond persistence is just beyond my understanding) is not helping him one bit. something's clearly not right here at the moment.

Give him until Christmas because we have always been slow starters and kick into gear around this time. Poch hasn’t even had a chance to use 2 of his signings. It’s a massive blow but now it’s the managers job to pick the players up after what happens. Let’s see what happens at Brighton to see if he can still motivate them. The biggest rot in the camp are Eriksen and Rose imo.

Also for 30mind we were all over them and could of been 3 or 4-0 up. The goal just before half time just completely killed us and you could see in the second half how dramatically levels dropped.

I think we need to keep Poch. No other manager is going to come in and turn our fortunes around with what looks like such a divided squad and potentially six players or more who either don't want to be here or the club don't want to be here. Other clubs have managed ok with one good player who wants to leave at the end of the season but we have six in Toby, Eriksen and Verts who want to leave so we hear and Rose, Wanyama and Serge who are not wanted.

Ship all of those out and get hungry players who want to play for Tottenham. Get the two Norwich full backs for a start.

Some other posters have suggested Poch freshening up his back room staff. That seems like a good idea but I don't know if he would do it.

Maybe some of those players want to play for Tottenham, but not for Poch?

Of course he wouldn't. He's stubborn as shit and wouldn't want anyone coming in and tell him what he is doing wrong.

You think two attacking players coming into the side will stop us shipping goals at halftime every game and conceding 7 goals?

Maybe it’s a divided squad because of Poch? Has it ever occurred to you that Poch may be the problem and not the solution?

I reckon only Kane and Winks actually care explicitly about playing for Tottenham. The rest were entirely Poch, and there's probably a few who'd still run through walls for him. The rest are probably done.

He has to go, last night will never be forgotten , talked about for years to come.
He continues with a formation that doesn't suit the players , rigourously sticks to it ,never makes a sub before the 60 minute mark no matter whats occurring on the pitch .We are wide open in every game we play and his big idea last night seemed to be to blow Bayern away in the opening 30 mins ? Even if we had scored the 3/4 goals that our play maybe deserved could you really see us protecting such a lead?
He's far exceeded my expectations since he arrived but alas I think last night was his AVB moment.

I’m not saying they’re above blame but they don’t pick the team or stick with the same useless formation for 9 months. That’s all on the manager. Can’t see how it can be seen any differently

I really doubt anyone is running through walls for him today.
