This has been annoying me a for a while. At the end of the game a majority of the players just head straight down the tunnel.

Yesterday our support was fantastic. At home, I agree with many prior posts on here it has not been so great. However neither have the performances at the Lane.

Football is a fickle game and I understand why a player may not want to applaud the same people who moments earlier were chanting derogatory comments but each week we turn up in our thousands, our away support rarely has an empty seat and for most travelling up and down the country, albeit a choice, is a vast expense. It would just be nice to see all 11 players, 7 subs and the coaching staff come over and show their appreciation - win, lose or draw.

I am not naming any particular player but we know the ones that do and we certainly notice the ones that head straight down the tunnel.

Ferguson, for what it is worth, is widely regarded as the best manager the Premier League has ever seen, but he always made a habit of getting his players to go over and clap the fans. I am not blaming Poch, but someone needs to take the responsibility. Will it make me stay away - no. Perhaps that is the problem.

Unfortunately that is exactly what the problem is. We travel come rain or shine. We stay to the end 99.9% of the time whatever the performance

I would blame the manager as he dictates what the players and staff do.

Name names. I know Daws always clapped the away support. Who is the worst for just pissing off down the tunnel?

Dawson was a fantastic captain and genuinely loved the club, He always stayed behind and clapped the fans as did some of our previous players , wish the new lot cared half as much as Daws did.

Holtby came over every away game I've been to. Once (Lyon I think) alone

Players aren't aware of the fans, we are inconsequential for them. Its understandable - they are professionals whose motivation is winning...for themselves.

I actually think that in this case, it is understandable that players want to just get off the pitch after a heavy defeat...I actually think that's better, it means they feel ashamed. I would be more annoyed if they were clapping, waving and smiling after a heavy defeat.

Sorry, cant agree with that at all. If we do badly in our jobs we have to face the music. Ok, different 'world' but I do not think it would do them any harm at all to hear what the fans have to say - rain or shine. At the very least a clap. Soldado yesterday put his hand up to appolgise at the final whistle. Not warranted IMO. He worked hard, penalty lacked power but it was in the corner and Hart made a good save then minutes later denied him with a worldy with his legs.

Bob needs a run of games, as do a few of a our players. Constant changing is what cost AVB his job. Perhaps though the changing goes deeper. Effort? Enthusiasm? Commitment? Passion? May be the 5 who did show their appreciation yesterday - Soldado, Kaboul (a little forced I might add), Lloris, Dier and Eriksen give a damn, perhaps the others don't. May be that is why we are where we are, we see what we see and we cannot hold down the same 11.

They should all be made to come over to the fans and bow like the Japanese players do!

Just clapping the support when they lose or pumping fists when we win.

No real surprises with the names you mention. Dier, hugo & eriksen seem like "proper footballers" to me, a classy bunch with good attitudes.
I saw that from soldado, as you say not needed but a nice gesture none the less taking responsibility. I really hope it gets better for him, he seems a really good guy.

You could tell yesterday that Spurs means something to him. He was an absolute rock, threw himself at everything, if he had stayed on it might well have stayed at 1-2. Top man in my book. Met him once and he was exactly as you would imagine.

Well that's the other side to the argument, I do see your point. All depends on the individual, wether they are straight down the tunnel because they are gutted, annoyed etc or if they are just lazy sods with a lack of understanding of our fantastic away support.

My solution is to demand it. Beckon to them to come over.

I say this because I'm also a Hamburg fan, and amidst all their struggles they had a particularly painful loss at home a few weeks ago to Frankfurt on the back of what may go down as the best free kick of the season anywhere to a Chelsea loan player, and after the game the "ultras section" demanded the crestfallen players come over to them so that they could show their appreciation to the players. After this incident, just about the entire team took to social media and the official site to profusely thank the fans for their support amidst difficult times.

And what happened next? Hamburg picked up their first win of the season the following week by beating Borussia Dortmund in Dortmund. After which, you better believe the entire squad as well as the bus driver came over to thank the fans.

So tell em to get the fuck over there so you can thank them and they you. May turn out well, and what's the worst that happens? A few players hustle down the tunnel?

It's not understandable because they're the first ones to complain when the support wanes.

It's not difficult to walk over to the fans and give them a bit of a clap. 4-1 down and the whole end was still singing we love you Tottenham.

I would like to see the players applaud the fans at the end of the game, equally we need to applaud the players if they have put a decent shift in, regardless of the result.

The away support is fantastic I might add. The players should recognise that.

The manager of Dundalk FC, Stephen Kenny makes sure the team comes over to the Shedside to clap the fans (mostly noisy lunatic fringe who never stop singing, banging drums etc) after every game.

This include physios, club doctor the works. It gives a feeling that we are all in it together. Really important as we are a point behind the top team and play them on Friday in the last game of the season. Oriel Park will be bouncing.

Drowned out the city fans for almost the entire game. I was sat with the city fans and could barely hide my pride that our merry little band still made more noise when we were 4-1 down than the city fans had all game.

And again today nothing from the players. No only no recognition of the fans before kick off, nothing after the game (ok the boos were loud but even so face up to it) and as for the actual game ... passion, fight, determination, pride.... A proud day for the Bill Nick family ..
