Sessegnon's approach this/last [choose whichever] season has been very unusual for a young player making his start at this level. Usually, we see audacity, brilliant moments and a lot of mistakes, some costly. Instead, Sessegnon played entirely within himself, never tried anything risky, stuck to safe positions and did the basics.

I'm not sure if it was the right approach. That can become a habit. Or he could step on and step up next season, whenever that happens. I have this sinking feeling, based on little except intuition, that he could be the footballing equivalent of Graeme Hick: brilliant against modest county opposition, but hesitant and ineffective against the best opponents.

Hes 19. Think he’s got some way to go to show us what he can contribute

I'd rather that than the Adel Taarabt approach. I think he showed some nice touches, especially early on but he seemed to get more risk averse as the season went on.

Another possibility is that he wasn't yet fully confident with his recovery from a high-grade hamstring injury. Being physically healed is one thing; trusting your body is another.

Think the same goes for Ndombele although I don't expect anyone to cut him much slack. He and Sessegnon had groin and hamstring injuries which are both notoriously difficult to get over.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Poor Adel. Did Barcelona ever come in for him?

The way that things have gone this season - COVID-19 might be an opportunity for a bit of a blank slate and a reboot for those two.

I was really disappointed with his performances. Way to risk adverse

I'm in the disappointed camp because the hype suggested he was something special, what we saw was mostly average.

Maybe Jose can improve him, but he's a long way to go before he's a first name on the team sheet when fit.

I think he did become very conservative and 'safety first' when he got his chances which hasn't done him many favours, However, compare him to Foyth and it's easy to see where that attitude has come from. Foyth played very well v Norwich apart from 1 mistake (where I think he was fouled anyway), and Mourinho's response to that was to kick him to the curb for the rest of the campaign, and if rumours have any truth, could now be sold. Young players will make mistakes - some coaches encourage them through that and out the other side, some don't.

Leaving aside he may be a flat track bully, was he ever played in his best position ? I personally think we would get more out of him in the 3 behind Kane than Moura.

I cant see him coming up with anywhere near as many goals as Moura. Not even half as many.

Opinions eh ! I just think that Moura creates more problems than he solves.
To be honest mate we've been so poor the way we set up and injuries to key players etc its hard to judge what level anyone is capable of.
But any attacking player who is regularly capable of finding the back of the net is worth having imo.
Its the hardest part of the game. Innit lol.
