Just checked it and although they played 6 games together it was at the end of the 21/22 season. Brighton won 5 and drew 1 which included wins against us, Arsenal and United.

I do remember being impressed with their set up at the end of that season just didn't remember that they had both Caicedo and Bissouma playing.

I don't think he's good enough to be a 8 as he's not creative and as a 6 he just doesn't have that awareness.
Dembele wasn't creative as no.8 but his ability beat players was key

Bissouma can do a job imo as a no.8 but imo he's gone due to his contract situation and age

He's unforgivably poor and has been - with the exception of six weeks, 18 months ago - his entire time here. He will take the manager down with him if he keeps going back.

Bissouma doesn't have that same ability although Dembele was unique. Bissouma also has a terrible work rate, the amount of times he jogs back is infuriating.

There are far better 8s out there so wouldn't be hard to replace.

I think like many of our players right now he is being misused.

He isn’t a defensive midfielder to me. I understand that he has some qualities that makes you think he can be but he lacks the concentration, aggression and defensive awareness to be the player we need. I’d say Bentancour , whilst better is also being misused.

Both would thrive with having someone next to them to do the dirty work and concentrate on the defensive side of the game.

One of my biggest bafflement’s with Ange is some of the players he picks for roles within the team. The widemen could be good players for us but they all look lost in this system, Regillion would be a perfectly acceptable back up left back, inverted though? No. Forster is a fine keeper, but for our way of play? No. And of course the midfield.
I think we sell Bissouma in the summer as Bergvall easily takes his spot but we have to bring in a proper defensive midfielder to help gradually introduce Gray to the role.

I said this when we signed him, but will repeat it now as it's more relevant.
I work with loads of Brighton fans.
They were totally not bothered when we signed him.
I think that says it all.

It wasn’t just the ball he gave away though was it, he was a passenger in this game and has been in many others. The fact Ange hooked him at HT speaks volumes.

He’s gone from the potential solution (when purchased) to an unspectacular squad option that will trickle down the pecking order and out the club.

He's not bad, he is just not good enough as a defensive shield, as a destroyer, as a creator, or a goal scorer. Put him in the midfield and instantly you have to pick another play to help Biss do a bit of his job, and that means we have 1.5 players to do 1 players job.

Biss’s best games are when we don’t get tested defensively, and the opposition are more concerned on our other players to exploit Biss’s weaknesses. Ultimately that’s not good enough to be a regular starter

This really sums him up. Abilitywise he's a very good player - strong, fast, good touch, can carry the ball - but my god he is thick.

He's far from the only one in the squad like this btw - we have so many skillful players with low footballing IQ who keep making wrong decisions. Easy on the eye and brilliant when it works but that's the reason we've got such a big gap between our ceiling and floor.

If he is asked to find a new club this summer, I wonder if he will then leave or just sit out his final year here.

Probably one of the most disappointing recent signings. Was buzzing when we signed him. But has been a huge let down.

he wears shorts of a basketball player and yesterday-spent half the game with them tucked up his arse. Must be hard to pass a ball like that

I don’t get how he’s been able to stay around for so long. We used to be ruthless getting guys who we couldn’t count on out of the team.

I remember Poch’s first season he gave heaps of guys a chance, Lennon, Capoue, Adebayor, Paulinho, Chiriches etc and when it was clear they weren’t up to it they were gone. It didn’t even matter if we’d signed them that season as soon as we decided they weren’t up to it they were out - this happened with Fazio, Stambouli, N’Jie, Nkoudou, Wimmer. Then even guys who did contribute and were good in the dressing room but we could improve on like Chadli got sold without a moment’s notice.

When we started hanging onto players like that is really where we started to fall off as we ended up with a bloated squad. This coincidentally alleged with us having even more money at the stadium.

We need to go back to that ruthless approach where if someone doesn’t cut it or can’t be trusted they need go, take what we can for them and be done with it so we can build in another direction. Bissouma would be the first one I’d want out the door, he’s cost us so many times it genuinely blows my mind he’s still getting picked even amongst the injuries and bans.

I think on yesterday’s showing we won’t see him much more especially with the emergence of Bergvall and once Gray can go to midfield I really hope we don’t see him playing for us again.
