Our central midfield is pathetic. We have Bissouma who is inconsistent and Bentancur is half the player since the injury. Other than that we have Sarr who runs around I will give him that and 2 kids. One of which Ange has decided is a right back or central defender. It's the main reason we have been losing all these games and failing to control a game for any real period of time lately.
We have two attacking full backs who desperately need cover and the DM is incapable of it. It’s the main flaw in the system right now.

Been saying this after every transfer window. A proper deep lying player has to be a priority and I don't get why it isn't addressed. And ironically that one type of player that could have been used in Poch, Mourinho and Conte systems too. We have too many jack of all trades guys

No DM is capable of doing what ours are asked to do. They're basically asked to cover two positions at once.

The main flaw in the system is the system itself. I'm convinced that even if we had the best players in the world in the back line and midfield we would still give up numerous chances because of how much space is vacated when we push high. Literally one long ball and strong running is all that is required.

Better players would make much better use of our possession. They wouldn't cough up the ball every 5 seconds and would pin the opponents back. And then when we did lose it we'd press them so quickly they wouldn't have time to play a telling pass over the top, and most opponents wouldn't even have a player stationed that far up for an out ball. That's how this system works but it simply isn't viable to do every game with our squad. Why Ange can't see that I don't know.

One of the glaringly obvious flaws.

A defensively better and more positionally aware DM would surely reduce the amount of chances against us, but the system in itself is set up to maximise offensive output at the cost of defensive stability and control.

Great if you're clinical in attack and have a world class keeper that more than often outperform his xG against, but if not you really rely too much on luck and the marginals being on your side.

Was so excited when we signed him and was aghast at Conte for not playing him very often but it turns out that serial winner Antonio could see behind the scenes that this guy is a serious waste of talent. I also remember Ange saying that he turned up late for his first training session or something when Ange arrived, which just shows his attitude towards being the best he can offer.

Agreed. There are two massive triangles in the back of our formation that are so easily exploited. We had to sign the fastest defender in perhaps the world to cover one of them and part of the other, and it only works as long as his hamstrings stay intact (they don’t).

He was perhaps expecting a better squad. I think that is the issue. No system is perfect but we do need more/ better players. And at least cut out poor footballing decisions by the footballers themselves.

Totally agree, I think we go over the top with the press at times, against the chavs you had the front 3 + kulu and Sarr all aggressive and Biss is left in no-mans-land on his own. We can still be aggressive with the front 3 but drop Sarr and Kulu back with Biss cutting out passing lanes behind the press

I’m done with him but I do have sympathy for what’s expected of him in this system. The more pressure you’re under the more chance you make a mistake. I wouldn’t be in the least bit surprised if we gave him a new deal though

Let's try a decent one before we jump to that conclusion. Bissouma had a small patch of form where he proved that was possible.

The concern for me on that is until we manage a sustained period of form like that again that doesn’t fall to shit for 12 months after. Is that the patch was a result of us catching teams off guard with our system and now we’ve been figured out.

I don't rate Bissouma, not his fault, but he can't play the defensive midfielder role what's needed in front of the defence. We need someone who is physical and imposes himself there and is able to mop up on the breaks. He has some nice ball skills but they inevitably end up with him dribbling up a blind alley. He lacks discipline and can't really tackle and has a poor assist record so I can't really see the point of him, probably only has 1 good game in 6. We need to seriously upgrade him, get as much as possible now with just 1 1/2 years left on his contract and get a better fit for the role we really need.

Lazy, uninterested, unprofessional. Crap
That's bad.

But then he isn't brilliant defensively, isn't a dynamic range passer and doesn't set the tempo of the game.

He's pretty one dimensional actually.

Exceptional at ball retention and beating pressure.

But beyond that?

We have several players in the team that are easily upgradable.

Bossed us at the Lane (can’t be arsed to type Tottenham Hotspur Stadium), we splashed the cash, got injured, had a hot streak, stupidly got sent off (twice), scored a couple, an enigma who cannot be relied on
