Wilson, my boy.

Please come back soon.

Let’s be honest, Odobert looked ok but not much more than that. The thing that concerned me in his performances was how little he seems to attack and beat his full back with a trick.

Saw Mikey Moore do it constantly when he came in. It’s what we need on both sides to stretch play and create space.

Sample size from his time on pitch is small though I guess. Hopefully there’s a star player in there.

Since this thread has been bumped I'll ask has anyone heard of when he's likely to return?

I know there probably wouldn't be much more than a "he's a long way off" or whatever from Ange but I wish some of these hacks masquerading as journalists would ask the occasional question about him and other long-termers - how his recovery's going, when they're hoping he might start individual training etc. I know Ange probably wouldn't want to comment on "when he might be back" in case it slips but even if it's just a quick "how is he?" sort of question in the embargoed section, it'd be better than half the nonsense they ask.

A Grade 3 tear followed by op is about 2 months of absence- so the experts say on the context of Saka.

How long has this Dude been out now?

FFS

Hamstring surgery is usually more like 3 month recovery time, potentially longer.

I would imagine he comes back around March.

Went in for surgery around 10th Nov from memory, so maybe back running and rehabbing early to mid Jan? PS I’m not a doctor🤒
The thing with it was, he came on for a few minutes against AZ on October 24th, then Ange said he'd suffered a serious setback on October 29th, and then he didn't have surgery until November 16th. So, 2 months minimum would be mid-January but it'll probably be closer to 3 months and they won't want to rush it (or rather, they'd better not rush it).

The reason why Odoburt is so key isn’t that he is brilliant it’s that he genuinely can hold on the ball and take on players which is key to Ange’s system for a winger. We don’t have a proper winger other than Odoburt like this. Moore might become that and much more but he is still 17.

The worrying thing about hamstring surgery is will he ever be the same player?
As agile, the burst of speed etc…

If the hamstring muscle came away from the bone it’s a long way back for him, might have to change his game.

( Same as Saka to )

Yep agreed. It’s a desperate situation that we are relying on teenagers to play such a vital role.

Like many others, I was worried about Neto’s injury record.
Ironically, Wilson then lasted just a couple of games before breaking down.
Obviously not his fault, but our number of hamstring injuries is concerning.
Not sure if that is due to tactics, training methods, lack of rotation, the medical team, or all of the above.

Yep Michael Owen was never the same for example although I think surgery is better these days whereas they botched Owen’s surgery

Very small sample size. He’s shown glimpses of great potential, I think he’ll do great once he settles in.

.. That is if he can regain confidence in his body after the injury.

It's not strictly that we are reliant on him It's that Ange rotates his wingers with substitutions during the second half but that tactic has been hamstrung by the injuries.

I’ve seen Owen say his hamstring reattached it’s self in the wrong place, I’m guessing the surgery back then wasn’t as good as it is now

This is potentially brilliant news because it means he must surely have had arthroscopic surgery, meaning the damage wasn’t too bad (ie. They didn’t have to reattach muscle to the tendon and bone).

I will try and ask my brother in law more about this as he knows a lot about hamstring surgery and recovery.

Hopefully his recovery goes smoothly ( and judiciously ).
Looking forward to seeing him back.
