Ange himself has admitted that in his/players first season with him they always suffer a lot of hamstring injuries due to how they play and train.

Which in itself is concerning. Hamstrings can become a recurring problem and difficult to recover from, we’ve seen that with VDV.
Going back further, Michael Owen had chronic problems.
Players with explosive pace will always struggle and if we are seeing that as a by-product and occupational hazard, this won’t be good long term.

Very true, must say getting to a point where a 19 year old has needed surgery after two hamstring injuries within the first few months of joining is quite extreme. Could certainly stunt his development physically and mentally.

So Spursy this happens whilst Neto stays injury free 🤣
"Neto in contrast, who had suffered with injuries for years until that point, went on to have an injury-free decade at Chelsea, never missing one game in his entire career there."

incoming Williams-Barnett's debut...
The people who sit behind me at the ground are family friends of the Williams -Barnetts (the older chap is friends with W-B’s grandfather and his son is friends with W-B’s father). They were very excited that he was in the match day squad for the first time for the Ipswich game. They are hopeful he might make his debut later this season.

Forget him for the season then. One day we'll sign an actual winger to make Ange's system work, I'll bet my bottom dollar it's after he's been fired.
Yeh, it's a great shame. I think Ange's system is great but he needs quality forceful wingers to make it work. Something we don't have ATM. I feel for Wilson as he looked confident on the ball and could have been very effective. I wish him a speedy recovery

Has anything been mentioned about our medical team or physios here?

I find it bizarre that a £40m asset has been looked after so badly.

He's 19, with no record of any previous injury according to Transfermarkt.

Within 3 months of joining us, he gets a hamstring injury, is put back in too early, and completely fucks it, resulting in surgery and a 6+ month absence if he's lucky.

To do a hamstring so badly it requires surgery is some doing - remember how badly Micky did his last year? He didn't require surgery.

Honestly, this is something you wouldn't see in amateur sports.

What the hell is going on here? It isn't the first time either with a young player at Spurs. Gutted for him, could derail his career big time

The kid is 19 years old... it's a farce that the club's success should be reliant on the fitness of a largely untested youth prospect in any case.

Odobert although a signing for the future was a bizarre signing in a sense. We both wanted and needed a first team ready player E.g. Neto but instead of getting an alternative we got an extremely raw youngster.

Albeit he only featured a few times pre injury he looked no more developed than Moore and therefore there shouldn’t be any expectation on him to deliver goals and/or assists.

Even when he returns to full fitness which is now looking like 24/25 season, he’ll still be the understudy and we’ll still need Johnson competition if we fail to bring someone in, in either Jan or summer 25.

I think Odobert made sense within the context of the summer signings.

If you look at Gray, and include Bergvall, Odobert was the 3rd young player who already had a season of first team football. That is a bit different than just being 18-19 yo.

Bergdal was perhaps the biggest risk, but also the lowest cost. Gray had spent a full season in the Championship, and Odobert had been in the PL.

For me, that put them all in the squad as back-up players this year, and ready for more important roles next season. And, when we looked at our squad last year - one of the biggest issues was a lack of depth, in terms of players capable of playing Ange's tactics.

Last summer was all about building towards the future, rather than trying to find the finishing pieces for this season.

Honestly some of those bargain bin players we signed early on in Poch’s tenure were spectacularly bad. Njie , Stambouli, Fazio and Yedlin - it was like we were actively trying to sabotage him. It’s a testament to how well some of our other recruitment went and how well others stepped up that we did so well.

I think he made absolute sense but the question is more about Werner since he's in his prime. If we signed a better first choice instead of Werner it would set us up perfect. Having Odobert, Moore and Yang as prospects for less than 35m is not bad strategy at all. That should be viewed as competition for the more senior players. We needed a better first choice in addition to the prospects we got.

First choice is Son though, not Werner.
