Abject failure 🤣. The doom loop in here would be enough to give some PhD student enough to write multiple theses.

Mental innit.

So many people on here need to go outside and touch grass or take up a hobby other than supporting spurs. First sign of trouble during the 'painful rebuild' doom mongering is off the scale.

A lot of my hopes on this season were reliant on Odobert, we're effectively the same team as last season with no improvement without him and arguably worse tactically.

I wouldn't say Solanke or Gray at the moment are a marked improvement on Richarlison or Sarr so feels like we've wasted a summer for improving our squad today.

For sure, we've got some great prospects but what's the point if we finish 7th with no silverware and have to fire our manager
7th would be a optimistic guess imo

Could see this situation coming after we signed him as our only winger 'upgrade' option, we do it to ourselves every season under Levy, we are playing with fire with weaknesses in our squad time and time again.

it’s even more disappointing after Ange rant at the end of last season about now knowing who he can trust, what he needs, the scar tissue from previous regimes etc. the term abject failure seems pretty apt to me if we actually wanted to improve our league position and chances of silverware so not sure why that post got the negative responses that it did.

I think the summer window was in large part a failure. Some people agree with that, some don't.

Doesn't mean I don't have other hobbies, doesn't mean I don't go outside, doesn't mean I should stop supporting Spurs.

Also doesn't mean I or what I think is "mental", though as someone with autism I have heard that word a lot in my life.

We're surely all fans together.

I think part of this is on the club.

Are we trying to win now? If not now, when?

I think when you finish 5th, and had a shot at 4th, most fans are assuming that the team is capable of competing at that level - and look for a transfer window that builds on that foundation.

But, the transfer window shows a club that is preparing for the future, and not the present - hence the disconnect. If Levy/Ange come out and said: "We're going to go through a bit of a transition period this year, but we are going to come out in a good spot." I think most people would understand. Instead, the messaging is - we want/expect to win now. But, the transfer business says differently.

Firstly, I will apologise that I used the word 'mental', it was used in the context of the situation rather than as a description of you. But I apologise for any offense caused.

Secondly, you are entitled to your opinion but I find it difficult that anyone can have such strong view on the window only 5 matches into the season. Maybe your expectations weren't aligned with the plan the club followed? I don't know. Either way, I think it's far too early to judge.

Thanks for replying. All good and thank you for explaining. When I originally posted I was thinking more of the forward positions and I could have been more specific about that. I'm sorry I wasn't, I can see how "abject" is quite strong.

You're a good poster and I have no argument with you. Autism makes me quite prone to emotional dysregulation, which doesn't always work well for me on Internet forums : )

I think your point about expectations is probably the answer here.

Yeah, a bit of a disaster for him really. He's not a settled player, so by the time he gets back either other players in the same position will have fortified their place, or the manager will have changed. It will be hard for him to break into the team now and I bet he ends up getting loaned, which will be a shame. Hope he recovers soon.

Sorry fella, but this is deranged catastrophic logic. We have no information.
