We're always being told that we need to "take a chance" and sign players like Bergvall, Odobert and Gray before the likes of Palace and Brighton, who inevitably turn them in to PL proven players, and that's exactly what we seem to be doing. Don't get me wrong £40m on Gray and £30m on Odobert is a lot, but if we don't take the chance now they'll be £80m and £70m respectively in 2 seasons when we're chasing after them.

I can't tell you whether this new approach will work for us, but I'm quite liking it.

If we’re lining him up on the right, as I suspect, I think we’ve seen the last of Kulu on the wing.

Now he can operate centrally, where he belongs.

Wow, just woke here and saw 22 pages on a name not linked previosuly to see we've signed him. Fair play Lange.

Can someone confirm, does this appear to be our RW done?

Happy with it to be honest as he is very strong in 1v1s and can go inside/outside.

Needs to improve his passing though.

The good thing is perhaps we can pay a bit more for a CM / LB now?
I’d say there’s a good chance he’s our last attacking addition of the window. We just don’t have the spaces. I’m personally not convinced he’s THE RW addition in that although versatile he’s strongest cutting in from the left or centrally but realistically can we expect us to get another attacker this window? Probably not.

My guess would be maybe a hard working CM or LCB/LB and then revisit RW in Jan or next summer.

Came a bit out of nowhere but I'm still distracted by "Tottenham Hotspurs" in that original post...

I have a huge soft spot for Nusa so if I was looking for a LW (both players “natural” position) I’d go for Nusa. Odebert is faster and more positionally versatile tho and as I said a few posts above I wouldn’t be surprised if he was slowly developed as a more central attacking player.
You're saying we've signed the next Thierry Henry? Got it. 😀👍

Yes with Yang joining in Jan I think we’re done here until next Summer when Werner goes.

Reckon we were caught off guard with Burnley announcing it early
"Hey Burnley, can you just hold on please? We've got our media team doing something special"

Said in the broadest Northern accent possible: "why don't you f*ck off you southern ****, I've got a pie that'll go cold if I don't get this done soon"

Is how I imagine it played out, being an enlightened sort as regards these types of interactions with our Northern cousins

I think he's so two-footed that there is room for him to improve. So let's see.

Clear that we had Neto as top option (established player) followed by Doue, Nusa, Bardghji, Odobert and players more based on potential. With Odobert being the most attainable for different reasons.

But yes, I want to see us really get that energetic midfielder now and I will be far more content than I was a couple of days ago.

Yeah, I’m not even sure how we are going to fit in Yang when he joins. I am however surprised that we wont bring in one more developed attacker (excluding CF) considering we went into the market looking at Eze and Neto who are both very established.

Agree. I mean he could well end up as a WF here. His game will need adjusting/developing but he’s young and has a lot of the required skill set but I do think one needs to keep into consideration the areas he likes to operate in. Im sure for now he will be used just as a winger to ease him, similar to how we use Moore most likely, but if we intend to keep him there will be another matter. I could certainly see him as an Eze alternative rather then a Nero alternative but so much depends on how Ange wants to develop him.
Agree with this, he’ll probably play mostly on RW this season.

I actually think we’ve given Ange a really interesting puzzle to solve, and that it sets us up quite well for the future with regard to both the rest of the youngsters and our full forward line, including AM.

Werner on loan gives us flexibility to sign a marquee winger next summer if needed, or if our current batch does well enough, promote from within.

Moore, Donley, Devine, Yang, Scarlett, Lankshear, Odobert, Bergvall etc.

I’m really excited by this, even if we don’t win anything this season.
