First goal (and red card) in the first team and worthy of his own thread.

Talk about mixed emotions for the lad, he will never forget this night in Istanbul.

Harry Kane had a mixed EL debut… 😉

Tbh it’s so so early to make any real opinions of him.

Good lad for getting a goal and he’ll learn from the 2 yellows.

Let him keep developing and go from there.

Our squad isn’t deep enough, if Richarlison wasn’t injured Lankshear would’ve got 10 mins off the bench which would’ve been more suitable for a player of his current age and ability.

I'm sure the squad will focus his mind on the goal and not the red. He's a young lad in a red hot atmosphere, it can happen. Would be great if he can get some minutes off the bench on Sunday so he can feel the love of a home crowd. If he gets a late goal then that's 2 in 2 and he'll feel great.

Think he was. Great he got a goal but i think a lot happened to fast and too physical for him.

But good learning curve.
I'd agree with that and it's no surprise, and no blame on the lad either. There can scarcely be a more intimidating place to go in your second (?) senior appearance. He's up and running as a Spurs goal scorer and if you can score away at Galatasaray then you can score anywhere.

I look forward to the day he becomes our all time top scorer, and we can look back on this match and remember how it all started.

Real bummer as the 1st yellow was not a yellow - it was an Oscar worthy flop. The arm to the chest and acting like it was in his face.

got fouled pretty clearly before the 2nd yellow, although he’d also turned the wrong way - he did lose his cool on that desperate challenge.

Really tough environment for him and a good experience. Awesome for him to get that goal.

He’s young. Already showing more than a lot of the previous academy strikers did. He’ll be better for having this experience.

Got frustrated and was rash, but he'll learn from it. It's still a great night for him to get his debut goal.

It's great that we have the perfect profile of CF in Solanke for Will to model his game around.

Yep, exactly this. First yellow shouldn't have been. 2nd, just lost his head a bit after getting fouled himself. But overall, really struggled to cope with the physicality from the Galatasaray defenders. But great to have scored and he will learn a lot from this.

You can see why we were determined to get Solanke - apart from all of the obvious about him, he's the type of striker that Lankshear will learn most from because of his type. The kid has a long way to go but he'll be a star, I'm convinced of that. The events of the match last night were a massive lesson for him. He'll get plenty of chances to impress as Richarlison unfortunately struggles to play two matches in a row.

He's clearly still raw at this point. Cutting insight on a 19 year old academy player I know but there's definite potential there. He has a real chance if he develops as well as he can IMO.
