He was very limited. Lacked pace and any anticipation, which are the key ingredients needed to be half decent

Game was too quick for him. He spent more time fighting with defenders than making quick clever movements. He was always one step behind play meaning he never had many clear chances to score.

He was quite clever and definitely skillful much like Soldado however also like our tragic Spanish prince he had no pace or dynamism which is just about the worst attribute you can have in the PL. on the other hand we have so many technically average players in this league who get by simply by being supremely fit physical units.

He would probably have done better in our side the last 18months or so since our play has become so laboured, for the most part

Still bloody useless mind, but the gulf in class wouldn’t have been so obvious of late!

He was technically a good footballer like most Dutch trained players, sweet left foot however the EPL was just to fast for him.

Always worked his knackers off though. I remember watching him come on vs West Ham in one of first games in new ground and we were friggin desperate for one to go in off his arse.

I can scarcely think of a more damning indictment of the league than the fact that technical ability and tactical appreciation aren't considered to be the most important factors. It's almost 70 years since the Hungarian team of Puskas and the rest gave England that lesson at Wembley (England's first home defeat against any team from continental Europe), and English football still doesn't want to progress beyond physical strength and hard work.

It's funny, off the top of my head I can't think of any out and out strikers that are Dutch beyond Janssen? I remember the Van Nistlerooy, Van Persie and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink days.

Weghorst, Luuk de Jong, Janssen, Brobbey, there are some...just not very prolific at top levels.

Delighted for him. Scoring at Royal Antwerp in Belgium. Gave everything, never hid, just never had that bit of luck that might have ignited his Spurs career. Glad he's back from his Mexican exile too.
