I'll never forget that moment, I think in his home debut, where he was clear through on goal, and knocked it wide. If only comes to mind..could have made a big difference to him and his confidence.

He was a 22 year old who just scored 27 goals in 34 games the season before we signed him. Was worth a punt imo.

Dutch league rather negates the stats you put up. Watching him took the gloss of off of those numbers.

Add him to Sissoko, Nkoudo and Llorente in recent seasons and you have to wonder if our scouts watch Spurs and know the way we play.
All I have is youtube and the many compilations and from them I'd never bought any of the above and I'd Lamela to that list, although I know like Lamela simply for his work ethic

was unlucky in his 1st game Everton keeper pulled off a good save, then what you said v Palace needed to round the keeper but went for the lob, those 2 goals would of given him so much confidence. should of gained a pen v Liverpool.

I met his uncle shortly after in Ibiza, and he said he was struggling to settle, and was trying to hard, which I agreed with. when your trying to impress it's hard enough when you know you've got a star playing ahead of you. Saldado suffered the same fate in front of goal

Even worse when you're a striker because it adds more weight on your shoulders and you know that scoring goals is what you will be judged on. And after every miss it just gets worse and worse. Don't need that on your mind in this situations.

I personally don't think he was good enough regardless, but I do have sympathy for him and the situations weren't ideal for him.

He was unlucky on the opening day of that season too away to Everton where at 1-1, he had a shot on the turn that beat the keeper only for a defender to block the shot on the line. He could have been off to a great start. Just lacked a bit of luck in the opening game and then composure when needed in the Palace game. Good luck to him where ever he ends up!

I hope wherever he ends up he does well. He has done the hard yards in his career, and I would love to see him be a success in his next role. I wish him all the best.

I think he has the potential to be a decent striker. Just needs the minutes. I think Poch is very quick to judge players and if he doesn't like you then you've got little to no chance.
Good luck to him. I think he should have taken the loan to Brighton though last season.

I agree - possibly our hearts more than our heads on this but i felt when we signed him he had potential.

Yes he's not shown himself to be quite up to the pace of the PL but he's young, hardworking, strong and in spite of what his form/confidence has shown at Spurs he's actually a decent finisher.

Unfortunately the key for me is confidence, many players have had bad starts to moves and struggled to ever get that confidence back. I hope if he does move, he builds again and has a decent career.

Hopefully his summer fat camp vacation went well as we might aswell use him until January at least. What a complete disaster this window has been.

How long can we really keep him away from the club if no one wants him? Will AZ really not take him back for 5 mil?
