I'd like to see another b2b player, obviously someone of Dembele's calibre isn't going to be cheap (or even realistic) but a willing passer with defensive presence is what we need in midfield.

I also believe that we already have a player with the potential to be perfect for our midfield in Bentaleb; but he has potential only right now.

Do you mean a good half-season? They picked up 16 points from 19 games in the second half of the season. That's atrocious.

Fair point, but didn't Capoue pick up an injury for a few of those games. I also think they stepped off the gas a bit when they got safe and to the semi-finals. I also think their 4411 got figured out second half and their manager should have changed it up a bit.

I watched Soton numerous times this season (one of my best mate's is a huge Saints fan). Trust me, he is absolute class. He battered Arsenal at St Mary's and snuffed out our midfield a few weeks ago. Aside from being a beast of a centre mid - the lad can really play and has a football brain. As for his disciplinary record, bar the poor challenge against Payet (a def sending off) he was unlucky to be dismissed on the other occasions. Let's be fair, Dier could of easily seen red for his 'tackles' against Chelsea. I like the combative nature of his game.

If Poch is a huge fan and the Wanyama knows the manager's style and what is expected. He would be genuine competition for Dier and offer us even more steel if we want to play Moussa too. It would relieve pressure on Toby and Jan by allowing Dier to move back to CB if needed alongside Wimmer.

6'2, 24 years old with vast Prem experience (and some CL too)- absolute no brainer.

Capoue only missed the last 5 games- but their problems started long before that.

If he is average like some say why would Southampton offer him a 5 year deal?

I like him, although he's been rash at times this season.

It would give us someone to rotate with Dier, and even to play with Dier if we feel we need a bit of steel in the middle in a game.

I hope though that we're also looking at a more creative central midfielder to compete with Dembele (i.e. an upgrade on Mason, Carroll, Bentaleb).
Bentaleb can be the upgrade on Bentaleb. He was looking like one of the best prospects in Europe prior to this injury plagued season.

Dier, Dembélé, Wanyama, Bentaleb, Winks is an improved CM 'roster' that wouldn't cost a vast amount of money and is entirely used to Poch's requirements. With Alli surely able to play the more attacking CM role as well, we'd be laughing.

Sent off multiple times last season, we would lose him for 1/3 of games suspended probably, not worth the risk, loose cannon

He missed 7 games through suspension, hardly 1/3 FFS. He received no red cards in 14/15.

To be fair I think some of his reckless play this year came about because he was denied a move to us last summer. He was playing a bit nihilist-style.

I think he is a good player, but i do have doubts about his temperament, the pressure will be a lot higher at Spurs than SCBC

Although you've exaggerated the amount of games we'd lose him for, I can't help but agree with you.

He's sort of like Wilshire, in respect that Wilshere only seems to return from injury to get another injury, and Wanyama seems to return from a ban to get another ban. Still, if he is the one Poch has identified, I'm sure we'll all hope it works out.

He's played a blinder in big games too though. Was outstanding for Celtic when they beat Barca at home in the CL.

He's not my number one pick, but having worked with him, I'll bow to Poch's call.

I think this is the key, if Poch wants him, it's for a reason, after all he does know him well!

Also should be at a much more agreeable price.

I'd rather Schneiderlin, but he's on 100k and Jose may want to keep him. Not sure what else is out there. Not sure Witsel would cover Dier, more like Dembele. Kante yes but can't see us managing it.

I'd love to get him to be honest. Would be a very good defensive minded player, a real killer on the pitch along with Dier/Dembele. Would also be really funny to see a meltdown on SaintsWeb

A lot of them seem to have mellowed about us on there. Quite a few reckon he will come to us- there was also a picture from Kelvin Davis' Testimonial of Poch, Adkins and Koeman, and they seemed appreciative of Poch's time there. There's also a few ****s on there though. I hope they do have a meltdown though nobody has one better than them.

Could not agree more. Would be a fantastic signing but will be tough to pull off sadly.

He's at his level with Southampton. Decent player with a good engine but someone who according to Saints fans trudges about for a while before conveniently turning it on in big games.
