We get one good season max out of any defensive midfielder. Palacios, Parker, Sandro, now Wanyama.

I've Agreed but I'd suggest that both Parker and Sandro had more than one good season with us. But one absolutely standout season, absolutely.

Sandro it’s hard to piece together due to the regularity of his injuries. Parker, maybe, but I though his year under AVB was significantly worse than under Harry.

Parker was heroic for us for about 6 months or so when he first joined, doing the running of about three players in midfield for us and getting through an insane amount of work every single week. But then he had an Achilles injury, soldiered on so he could get to Euro 2012 and finally be a part of the England team, came back and eventually had surgery which put him out for months and he was never the same player after that.

I doubt Levy will ever forgive him for not wanting to move in August when a fee of 13.6m was offered

Yeah I said a while back that these kind of all action players seem to pick up quite bad injuries, especially the ones that have played for us. Maybe it points towards getting these guys in earlier, obv Sandro was young - not sure about WP’s age when joining, but Parker and Wanyama could have been with us earlier I believe? We’ve also been incredibly unlucky too though.

The version of events I've read places the deal collapsing equally on Levy and Vic. A deal was agreed then Levy pushed for more, which started the collapse of the deal

Shame that his career has been destroyed by that injury, 2016/17 Wanyama was superb. I'll always remember him and Dembele ragdolling the entire Arsenal midfield

All the best Vic.

Sad that how an injury can totally change the course of one's fortune which he can never recover.

I'm just curious is Poch's training regime a body-wrecker? Players never seem to fully recover from any injury during his tenure, seemingly even from Southampton days?

Such a shame. He was the answer to all our defensive midfield issues st one point. Injuries can be such a bastard. Good luck Vic

Wanyama initially stalled the deal cause he was scared of flying then Levy came along and ballsed it up and tried to get Brugges to commit to more down payment.
