Let's be honest, it's the only choice because we've priced him out of a move elsewhere.

Given the choice between selling abroad and selling for a 50% markup to a domestic rival, Levy will invariably plump for the latter.

That's the problem.

No amount of spin will ever convince me that Man Utd are the only club in Europe interested in Toby.

How many other clubs need a CB, can pay Toby the wages he wants, are a club he would want to join etc. It's not just us pricing him out.

We don’t have to sell to United.

So who do we sell to when no one else is trying to buy him.

I can’t believe people are willing too lose out on at least an extra £30m, which would have an effect on either this window or next summer

Seemingly they don't care as it isn't their money. They seem to forget that would be money that can't now be spent on transfers in.

It seems both Poch /Levy want rid. Must be a very good reason! From what I've been reading (ITK and mainstream) everything that happens this window will be directed from Poch. If that's the case,.. I'd like as much for him as possible, thank you very much and if he's MU bound, I'd like the footballing gods to arrange for circumstances to take him there at 10.30pm on last day of t/w so he gets no preseason.
And he snaps a hammy, as he stands up from signing the contract!

Pochettino may be the nicest guy in football but he is also the most ruthless. Anybody that shakes the team ethic is out. Toby is clearly out now and what you have to understand is that Pochettino does not care about other clubs strengthening or weakening during the window, he is only concerned with his squad. It's how we play football and it's how we go about transfers; Tottenham Hotspur and the philosophy are the be all and the end all.

So we're just sticking with the 70 million and simply ignore that Herc stated it would be considerably less than that?

It depends on which bit of ITK you want to believe. Hertyid says 80M Euro, but Herc says it will probably be lower than this.

Never good to sell to direct rivals. But teams do it and go on to win cups and titles.

70M is crazy money for potentially a now injury prone player. He may be amazing for them or end up on the bench half the time. Lets hope its the latter

I don't understand why people keep trotting out the 'strengthening a rival' stuff.
We're not giving him away for nothing, and the decision will be made that the 50-80 million quid or whatever it is, is gonna strengthen us a lot more than selling him cheap abroad or next year for 25m would.

I think sometimes our fans are too worried about what other fans and the media will say, and Im kinda glad that Poch and Levy don't give a fuck about that, because its really not that important.

They would sell if we paid a ridiculous amount. As we will if they pay a ridiculous amount for Toby.
What like 70 million?
I would give them Toby plus 10 or 20 million.
They won't sell to us and that's the point.
Toby is an upgrade on there defence and 70 million will be chump change if that helps them win the league.
We've heard that sales won't influence our budget
Martial is for sale and we want him so throw the ball back into there court.
You can have Toby but we want Martial.

Is Martial for sale though? Regardless of whether we want the player or not, if United don't want to sell him to us that doesn't mean we should react differently regarding getting the best possible price in selling Toby if indeed spurs management have decided Toby is no longer in our plans. One thing we can be sure of is that we have the best possible negotiator in Levy to get the best deal in this situation.

Unless its Marital to us.

the thing is I'm not bothered as it means that Sonny can be kept happy, if Martial signs, 1 has to spend time on the bench, as they both operate better off the left. if you start rotating them regular, both could end up getting the hump and having an unhappy dressing room. hopefully we can find someone in their quality that can be at their best on the right

Hopefully Lucas Moura can be that right-sided AM, especially after he has a full summer pre-season to properly bed in. I can imagine him getting a few more starts ahead of Lamela and Sissoko.
