I can't quite get my head around the fact that nobody has bit for 25m.

Its bordering on stupidity from the likes of Utd. Eyeing up Mags for 3x the amount and he's not even half the player and likely never will be.

Even if Toby is asking for a 4 year deal at 200k it's a no brainer in my book for a team like Utd.

Madness.
no its stops being avaliable when theres two weeks left to leave time to find a replacement, not sure when it starts though. Have we even extended his contract yet?
Not sure about that tbh.

What has been reported is that the 25m clause came into effect as a result of the triggered one year extension, right? It would follow then that the clause is only available when the triggered year of the contract starts. That would be July 1st, would it not?

I would assume that we haven't seen anyone activate the clause because it's just not in effect yet.

No. The clause is valid only up to the last two weeks of the window .

That’s £41m in wages + £25m. It’s odds on he’ll want a massive signing on fee, image rights etc.

It’ll not be far off £80m and there is no resale value on him.

With the way United have been burnt with the Sanchez deal you can see why they might be hesitant in doing a deal like this.

4 seasons for 80m.

Hes worth every penny for a club like Utd IMO.

I still feel one of the super clubs will come in for him at the £25m, hence why our links with Joachim Andersen keep resurfacing. He's great value for money in the current market and a Rolls Royce of a defender, so we can't blame him if whoever miss out on De Ligt (PSG, City, United) throw massive wages at him on a longer deal than we could offer. It'll be gutting to lose him, but Sanchez needs to replicate some of his Colombia form and make that RCB position his own.

I really don’t see what is so bad about Lingards video clip. It’s just a young guy on holiday with his mates. Some people need to get out more.
I know some 20yr olds that can behave like that, after a few beers but he's 27. Many folk are parents at that age.

And many aren't.

I can only speak from experience because I am that age currently, but I've found that 26/27 to be probably the time when I've had the most diversity in my circle of friends in regards to where they are in their lives. I've got mates who own their own home, I've got mates who are married and have kids, and I've got mates who are studying and had to move back in with their parents because of financial struggles.

Haha I'm sure people older than me will look on this as a "oh, you precious millennial" type thing(and I'm sure too that there are those who experienced something similar), but personally I know a lot of people who are finding it difficult to know where they should be in life at this age, myself included. It's almost like it's this liminal phase of your life between your youth and whatever comes next, where you straddle the boundary of immaturity and the feeling that you should be carrying more responsibility, and some people find it easier than others. I can only imagine that's amplified for young guys who have been in their national spotlight their entire adult life with ludicrous amounts of disposable income and in the age of social media.

Personally, I find the criticism of his videos ludicrous. He's a guy on holidays. I'm not sure what people expect.

You make some good points but take some of the tarnish off by calling criticism "ludicrous", it's just opinions mate.

Personally I'm bitter about it, why can't he be as miserable as me

I bet you’re fun at parties.
What are these "parties" of which you speak?

Edit. Although the only party I'd want to be at, where someone was running around shouting "beans, beans, beans", would be one of my childrens birthday parties.

There’s absolutely zero reason for Toby to accept any offer from United this summer. In the short term (next season), we’re a more attractive prospect, and in the long term he has far more options by seeing out the last year of his contract with us and weighing up his options next summer. With so many doubts over United atm, he’d be stupid to commit to them for the next 3+ years when he can see who comes in next summer.
