There is a very good player in there, but he has massive confidence issues which causes him to overthink shots and get the ball tangled under his feet.
His speed is dangerous and he has a good football brain. He's probably also a very good professional who doesn't cause any problems and trains hard.
I actually wanted him to come on earlier against Ipswich, but i can understand he has been infuriating with some of the chances he's missed.

Then I’d question Ange’s judgement on players if that’s the case.
We were extremely quick to extend Werner's loan as soon as the summer transfer window opened, despite being in the process of actively pursuing multiple other wingers (and eventually signing two other wingers). This does give the appearance that Ange was firmly behind that decision, unlike if it had gone through on deadline day.

Not particularly about the Ipswich game as I thought he actually played well but last year we saw exactly what he was and how wasteful in front of goal he is but we still decided to re loan him? That decision in itself is a disgrace, did we actually think he’d suddenly have his shooting boots on this season when for the past few seasons he couldn’t hit a barn door? Or as expected it was all about going for the cheaper option.
I don't think it was about going for the cheaper option (out of interest, cheaper than which other attainable targets?), but rather than Ange thought / hoped Werner could rediscover the form he produced during his first spell at RB Leipzig.

Presumably, we only signed him on loan again (with an option to buy) because Ange was aware this signing is a risk.

Putting aside Werner's finishing (which is undoubtedly a major issue), he fits Ange's system extremely well and generally puts in decent overall performances (aside form being wasteful in front of goal). If his finishing was a technical issue, he probably wouldn't have scored 235 career goals (including almost a goal per game during a couple of seasons in the Bundesliga). If it's a confidence / mental issue (seemingly the case), I can see why Ange might back himself and his coaching team to help Werner overcome it.

I'm not particularly trying to support the decision to extend Werner for another year - only to explain why Ange may have thought it was worth a punt.

He’s on big wages though. Surely some of you must be happy with that considering the wage bill is your new obsession? 😂

Gonna bump this for Timo.

He did what he does best, and what he does better than anyone else.

That was Kyle Walker he took for a bath you know….
Yup, brilliant with what he done in his cameo and great to see the guys celebrating with him the way they did.
Having him and Johnson on the bench with their pace was great, surprised they didn’t come on earlier though

Honestly, I wouldn’t be against signing him permanently as our 4th choice winger.

He is what he is and has his faults, but he skins fullbacks easily and can cross it well.

Seems a no brainer for me if he took a drop in wage and we got him on a free, or even for like 10m

Mikey isn’t ready, Son is declining rapidly, Johnson isn’t great, and who knows about Odobert.

Just my two cents

For me, I think he has to be assessed over the season.

I think the hope was he'd come in and either click so well we'd want to make the move permanent. Or he'd be a decent stopgap while our younger players develop and try to get up to level.

With injuries, illness and just being very young, it's possible Odobert, Moore and Dorrington need more than just this season to get up to level.

I believe his contract with Leipzig expires in 2026. If they can't get a transfer fee for him then they might want to loan him out to us again.

For now, I'll stay on the fence and see how he performs and other players develop before making up my mind.

He left Walker for absolute dust. Not many players do that to him, but Walker couldn't get near him.

Delighted with his contribution again so far. Good lad Timo

His value to the squad was obvious yesterday. He can be devastating from the bench with his pace. Some people are incredibly harsh on the lad.

Remember 4 weeks ago when he was the latest in a long line of players to be branded “the worst I’ve ever seen in a Tottenham shirt” by the brainiacs on here. Lmao.
