He was causing all sorts of problems for them yesterday, very good game from him. 1 goal and 1 assist in 12 games so far but he averages around 43 minutes per match. If he can gain confidence then his contribution could improve a lot, but he won't start too many games for us ideally.

A lot of our best performances this season, Werner has played a decent chunk.

Delighted he got his goal. Agree with all those who said he needs to work with a sports psychologist. If he was confident and composed he'd have 4 or 5 goals already this season. His work rate, pace and positioning are all strong.
Is it possible he's not working with a sports psychologist? That would be fairly negligent if so. I get Ange isn't into set piece coaches or whatever, but Werner has the yips and needs to overcome it.

That goal was a great slam into the net. If he can just get that knack for one touch finishing again, we'll have a major improvement for the team.

Delighted for him. Great goal and you could see how happy everyone in the team was for him.

Had a really good game and contributed well at both ends.

The run second half and the shot with his left foot had Ortega beaten and I thought he was a little unlucky with it but taking it on at that pace it was a hard finish.

Hopefully he can kick on now

He played really well.

he gave city a lot problems i thought he had scored a second, shame he didn’t.

i know he missed a simple pass and some finishes, but after westham that took some balls, he had such a shocker. He was a very good outlet he looked quick., worked hard.

the crowd also gave him a lot of love I hope he gets confidence from that performance and isn’t injured

I know he missed that one on one, but all ill say is he at least struck it really well and it was unlucky, it was actually a good effort. The other one on ones he's struck them poorly so it was a nice change I think the next one goes in

When he was struggling he still helped out Udogie. Fans should recognise his work rate and support him. He scores when he wants chants are funny.

I think when he’s in the starting line up, he causes problems for the opposition defence, they know he’s going to get in behind with pace. We don’t really have that with anyone else on the same level at least. The chance he put just wide he also made it himself, anyone else gets onto that ball, they get tackled or caught up.

This was his turning point and should start against Villa. We shouldn’t rush Sonny back, it seems to be injury season.

I've been hyper-critical of Timo in this thread and frankly rude towards him and his abilities. I have to ensure that I come in here as noisily with my respect as I did with my disrespect so here it is: I was there last night and Timo was very good, he caused City so many problems and he could have done so even more if we had used him more than we did. The ball in behind them to get him in was on all night as he positioned himself very wide on the left and right on the shoulder of the last defender. From my vantage point in the East Upper I was screaming for Vicario to play him in rather than pissing about with the ball between himself and the centre backs. Unfortunately I didn't see his finish live as I got into the ground a little late and was busting for the loo, I heard the cheer while I was in the bog and it sounded so quiet I thought City had scored, imagine my surprise when I heard we had scored and the scorer was Werner! I hope this goal is the start of a renaissance for Timo and I'm here for it. He makes errors. sure but I have been way harsher on his mistakes than on any other player and let's have it right, a lot of the squad have had poor games in the last few weeks. Sorry Timo, I'm better than that and I will do better.

I really like Timo, I want him to succeed, not just for the team but for himself. His work rate adds so much to the team, use that goal to kick on kid.

Still seems a bit aimless though. Like he just looks to get a ball into the box rather than pick someone out. Tough game to come on in though when you're low on confidence.
It’s the way they train. Ange said last season that he wants them to put it across the six yard box without looking for anyone in particukar. His theory is that it’s up to the other players to get in there especially the wide player on the other side . Delaying for a second or two gives defence time to get in position.
Not sure I agree with all that but that’s the plan apparently.

Incredibly happy for him that he scored and I involuntarily let out a shout of delight, not only for his goal but for the effort I was convinced was going in!

He's been the epitome of frustration this season but his all round game has been very valuable for the team.
If he can grow his confidence and even take half of the chances he's getting into position for, he could be a very valuable player for the rest of the season.

Such a lovely bloke too.

I think that's more for when they get in behind. It's more when the opponents have the defence camped in the box we need to pick out a cross. Those low balls into an area are easier to defend when facing a low block.

The goal was a perfect chance for him because the pace was already on the ball and he had little time to panic. He seems to struggle with making a telling connection when he has to think about hit. Hoped it would push his demons aside but his next chance was another tame sidefoot back to the keeper. But overall he was decent.

This - as much as I love Brennan , he could take a leaf out of Werners book - didn't think he offered much in defense last night - nowhere near his man a few times

Fair play Timo very good performance last night and a nice finish.

unlucky not to get a second and caused them problems all night.

also his interview came across so well, he is never going to be prolific but he can contribute to our season with performances like that.

Is my biggest annoyance with Brennan, great going forward but lacks intensity coming the other way. Timo however, up and down that wing helping out the left side. Think its one of the reasons most of the traffic came down our right last night.
