I think he only came on because Moore is down to start on Thursday. A goal would have done wonders but he was really, really poor. I think he’s just broken, and I would be more surprised if we didn’t terminate the loan in January.

He’s not a long term option, hence why we only renewed the loan, and he won’t get the time or minutes to get back into form (and even his top form is not quite good enough in my opinion).

Either when Odobert is fit, or if Moore gets a couple of goals or assist, I think Werner might struggle to get into a match day squad. To be honest, I think Spence should have his bench spot, he would offer more of an offensive threat right now

He doesn’t just lack confidence, he lacks football intelligence.

He doesn’t understand how to connect with teammates. Everything he does is at 100mph and he has no ability to read the game and positions around him. His execution of passes etc technically is also horribly inconsistent.

We need to cancel his loan at the beginning of January and look to bring in a proper quality wide player.

So you’re saying he was already a bad player before Chelsea bought him? When he was scoring for fun at Leipzig?
ok Chelsea bought him 4 and a half years ago, not 6, but you get the idea, for some reason or other the Chelsea move completely destroyed him from the get go, he couldn't even revive himself in Leipzig

He was clearly signed to give us time with Mikey and Odobert
Moore yes but Odobert and Yang weren't signed yet. I'm sure the feeling was Son would be first choice and we want to see if one of the youngsters break out. After adding Odebert and Yang though I do wonder if we moved too soon as not sure we need him. Especially with Solanke signed and Richarlison can cover on the left. That would have freed space for Spence in Europe too.

I think we had our plan set out in terms of the type of players we were looking for and Timo always made sense in that. Providing he can get a couple of goals or assists I still took he does

I think it's more that we weren't going to splash out on Neto and Eze and he was a cheap option. It pays off if one of the youngsters turn out to be great instead.

I'm more than happy that we signed him for a few reasons:
1. Last season he showed some glimpses that he could get it right with a bit more time
2. A loan is cheap and no risk. If it doesn't work out he goes back, if it works out then great
3. If it did click for him then his pace is a massive attribute. Even with it not clicking it makes him dangerous for the opposition as you can't take the risk he will miss more often than not
4. If we didn't end up signing a forward then Son was more than likely going to be up front, and then we might not have found cover for the left
5. A loan option, for any player, was definitely right in my mind as we have young, exciting options coming through so this takes the pressure off them and doesn't block their progress
6. Richy is injury prone

It hasn't worked out this season so far, and who knows if it does or doesn't though it feels like it won't. But he's still an experienced player and we have a lot of games this season so it's good to have extra legs in there.

Just really hoping he gets a goal soon so he can turn it around and the loan turns out to be 'okay' by the end of the season even if not amazing

Whilst I agree totally on Werner I wouldn’t worry about Moore. Other than Yamal there isn’t a 17 year old in the top leagues who has played more minutes than our Mikey. He will most likely start on Thursday and most likely see out the 90 yet again.

Moore is getting enough football at the minute.

What I actually think is that when Odobert comes back very soon then Werner shouldn’t be making the bench. He clearly isn’t good enough.

Concern is he will drop Moore from squad and keep werner on bench

I can see both Moore and Werner start Thursday. Neither Richarlison or Odobert are fit to start yet and it would be good to rest Son and Johnson from the start.

One of the worst players I've ever seen in a Spurs shirt. Harsh, but really just brutal to watch him.
I certainly don't think he's one of the worst players we've signed but I have to admit he doesn't really offer a lot in a game. He very rarely gets involved and just stays out on the wing and when the ball comes to him he's off at 100 mph with very little end product. On the few occasions he's through on goal you just know he's going to miss we saw it so many times at Chelsea. Moore might be only 17 but with out doubt he would contribute a lot more(no pun intended) in a game. I just feel Werner is holding up the progress of others with his presence in the squad.

He provides "extra legs," brings experience to the squad, and presents himself as a true professional. However, he’s a fairly limited player. To me, he’s like a less effective version of Lucas, who I also found frustrating. At this point, we have a pretty clear idea of what to expect from him. He was likely brought in because we half-anticipated that deals for other experienced players might not materialise. If we managed to secure one of those bigger signings, we knew we weren’t fully committed to Werner since it’s only a season-long loan. I guess the club may also have been reluctant to spend big on someone they thought might block Moore's pathway to the team.

Ultimately, I see him as a squad player suitable for a top-six or seven team. Until we bring in or develop more game-changers like Bale, Kane, Son, Eriksen, Modric, VDV, and Dele, we’re going to have a hard time making the leap to where say Liverpool are now. I don’t believe Werner is the solution to that. He’s another reason we need to be patient and realistic about our expectations this season.

I don't buy the argument that he's eating in to other player's minutes. If Ange thought it was better to sub Moore on as opposed to Werner that's exactly what he'd do. He clearly sees more value in bringing on the experience of Werner over the youth of Moore, even if it's frustrating for the fan.

Mikey will get loads of minutes this season as a 17 year-old, we're looing at a minimum of 10+ starts and a number of sub appearances IMO, but I fully trust Ange to integrate him at a pace everyone is comfortable with.

Quite a few people talking about terminating the loan in January. Is there anything to indicate that would even be an option? I don't recall anything mentioned about a termination clause, and I think those things are generally the exception rather than the norm? I'm sure Galatassary would have loved to terminate Ndombele's loan in January last season, for example.
