I'd say Son has repeatedly missed opportunities and made bad decisions so far this season but doesn't get the flak Timo gets. We all love Sonny and cut him a load of slack but not Timo. He does things Sonny can't do and vice versa. I personally think he's a decent interim signing for us while we wait for Mikey Moore.

Sonny wouldn't have hit both his one-on-one's directly at the keeper.

I think Sonny has far more credit in the bank than Werner does

Werner has show zero cutting edge

when Sonny misses a good chance it’s a surprise

when Timo misses it’s not

If you can accept the fact he's fucking woeful when approaching the keeper then he largely had an effective game for us yesterday.

It's still an area that needs urgently addressing January/Summer '25 however

Anyone else notice that he seems to shoot way too early when though on goal? Get closer to the keeper and either take it round him or shift the angle slightly to give yourself a clearer shot at goal. Instead he seems to shoot when there's still a bit of distance away and the keeper can make himself big to save it.

Must be weird for him - the whole team will be buzzing after last night but his confidence will be at rock bottom.

I’d imagine with son being the age he is, odebert might likely become our LW (his natural position) next season, we’ll have Moore who’ll be 18/19, Yang, who’ll be 19/20 so I wouldn’t be surprised if we go big on a rw to compete with Johnson.

I have a feeling that we only renewed his loan because we knew Moore was on the verge of breaking through. We needed a winger in the summer but if Moore progresses we can send Werner back and we're not left with a player we're struggling to sell.

I think a lot of our transfers this year were about improving our team for next season rather than immediately improving the first team.

Let's see how Yang does first and not have unrealistic expectations of an 18-year-old coming straight from S.Korea.
of course Yang (or Moore) wouldn't start instead of Werner, but if we are say 3-0 up and 10-15 minutes to go we should probably bring on one of Yang or Moore instead

Werner is really good for us. When it comes to pressing, work rate, offering something different than Son.

And with Son and Odobert out, we need him as Mikey More isn’t ready to play 90 mins twice a week.

And: Werner is a woeful, terrible finisher.

Think we need to target both flanks as I would like Moore to be shadowing Maddison as the 10 with Bergvall deputising for Deki.

Succession planning for Son is needed, like now! Yang will still be a season or two away from being relied upon here I feel so some European club loans beckons.

I think he did a lot of things right yesterday. We have seen over the last few weeks that some players need confidence. (Johnson) score a couple of goals. And you don’t feel you can miss. Clearly Werner is not the long term solution. But let’s get behind him. Son has been missing some pretty easy chances last few weeks as well.

Yeah I think Moore will move central. I guess if it’s a case of odebert starting, son back up and rang 3rd (we still have solomun too if he stays fit) and we go all out on big spend RW then im on board with that.

Sure about that? He's fluffed a few recently.
Only one I can think of is the one against Brentford. Don't think he's had many chances in recent games in fairness, which is a problem in itself.

Positives - worked for the team, got himself into some great positions and his presence allowed Udogie to find the space to get in on a few occasions.

Negatives - He can't finish anything.

If he got one of them yesterday, I think he would have had some confidence behind him but another two fluffed chances just adds to the frustration. Not good enough to start for me but not a bad option from the bench. Unless Son is out for a while, in which case I don't think Ange will drop him for Moore or shift Johnson or Kulu with the form they are in.

I've seen enough of Son over the years to expect him to take at least one of those.

And I've seen enough of Werner in every team he's played in to have expected him to miss both.

On top of that, I think the cut back to absolutely no one was even worse than the two one-on-one misses. It show a complete lack of composure or awareness. And it's not a one off.

Negatives - left Garnacho un-marked, allowing a shot at goal
- gave the ball away cheaply leading to counter attacks
