And Owen was clearly overplayed too young which affected him in terms of injuries later in his career.
Rooney physically was a man at 16 and Lamal is the only kid since Pele to play that high a level at that age.

Werner was really poor against Coventry and confidence seems low but I really hope he can turn it around. He’s an asset in this system and just needs to get his head up, literally and metaphorically!
I think you’re clutching at straws to believe Werner being an asset. It’s been proved wherever he’s played over the last 5-6 years he’s been shite and I fail to see this improving anytime soon.

It’s better Werner came back for a year on loan while moore gets up to speed with first team football than we buy a 30m young player who wants guaranteed minutes and completely stops Moore coming through.

They can share minutes this year then when he leaves next year Moore will be more ready for regular minutes or we send him on loan.

He’s not reducing anything, Mikey is 17, he’ll get plenty of opportunity to show what he’s got. But Werner for now is still an established pro that has done well for us. This agenda some of you have is boring. I think it’s some sort of tribalism because he played for Chelsea or something.
No, I’d be thrilled if we signed Cole Palmer

If Son is out, he'll bring Bissouma in and play Kulu out wide, Johnson from the left.

He'll beef up the middle I reckon.
Hopes he sticks with kulu through the middle, given how hes played i think thatd be a bigger adjustment than swapping Werner or anyone else in for Son. Moving brennan from right to left after hes 3 in 3 also, its a lot of change from a successful formula.

Yes, possibly.

I want to see Kulu, generally now, through the middle.

Johnson can cut in fine from thw left.

Bissouma in with Bentancur could give us real solidity in the middle of the park.

I mentally switched off midweek as I'd had a few gins. But was he playing off the right again?? I'm sure Ange has played him in pre season there also? Weird if this is the plan.

he played on the left and then moved over to the right when moore came on.

Our squad building has really been exposed because all 3 of Werner, Moore and Odobert are significantly better and more comfortable LW.

With Deki being far better centrally too, it means we only have 1 player who is natural at RW in Johnson.

It’s a real gripe of mine when teams play wingers on the opposite flank to where they’re comfortable. As a winger you’re generally either more comfortable inverted or on your natural foot side. You don’t get many wingers who can genuinely play either flank.

Shit enough to be starting in a champions league winning team?

I like him. I rate the way he adapted to the LW position last year. You could see him working hard on crossing with his left and he's actually pretty good with it now and will happily try to go outside his Marker. He's got lots of pace and is clearly a team player. As a loan I still feel he was a smart option and will contribute over the season.
He definitely isn't shit.

Not by anybody who understands that Mikey is still just a kid and needs to be taken care of and integrated slowly.

It will come to a point where he has to be ahead of Timo in the pecking order, if Timo doesn’t fix up.
Yes it will be slowly, but it will happen sooner or later.

If every time he plays ahead of Mikey, whilst under performing, he & Ange will rightly receive criticism.
Ange gets to watch both players everyday in training, if he starts Werner over Mikey it’s for a reason.

Whilst Mikey undoubtably has huge potential, I don’t see any evidence yet as to why he should be starting ahead of Werner.

Lots of fans have an agenda against Werner and let’s be honest he’s been pretty awful in front of goal but actually last season his stats outside of that weren’t too bad at all. He hasn’t played enough this season to be judged properly imo.

I like everyone want to see Mikey ripping it up and when the time is right I’m sure he will.
