I think most people understand the numbers involved, but the club have to look beyond those simple numbers and view the bigger picture.

Ange has had 6 months with Werner, and assuming that Ange has given the green light for this loan we have to be think that the manager is getting a player he is happy with. Perhaps Werner is not the world-beater that we want as fans... but by loaning him it is freeing up funds elsewhere. If that means we can sign Archie Gray for example, then we have added an HG player that covers at RB and DM.

I'm not a big fan of Werner myself, but that is how I would be viewing his loan. He is a known quantity and he doesn't take up transfer budget. On the surface it might not make sense when we count up the non-HG players, but there is a lot more to the squad building than just those numbers.

Also gives our youths 1 more year to develop before seeing if they will be integrated into the first team.

Basically we need someone who can beat people with skill, rather than pace.

With Johnson, Timo and Son we have pace aplenty. But last season we saw how much we missed some trickery in that final third.

So I'm fine with bringing in Timo at minimal cost if he is joined by that more tricksy style of attacker.
Nailed it!

I was against signing him on a permanent deal because I don't think he is a good long term option. I don't mind another loan because we won't be stuck trying to offload him in a year or two. Hopefully it will free up some of the budget to be spent elsewhere.

It seems Expressions Oozing ain't impressed with the Werner loan then
I was listening to his who we should sell/keep video and saw he wasn’t keen on keeping Werner (to put it mildly)

But the one that got me was him saying “Ben Davies can go from Ben Edgar Davids to bend me over and fuck me in the space of a couple of mins”. lol.

I'd imagine he'd be disappointed to know he doesn't get Spurs version of Rory Jennings crossed with AFTV's Ty's seal of approval.
Mate, he’s way more charismatic and funny than those 2. Same job, though, so see what you mean.

Same amount of knowledge as well. I get the entertainment aspect of watching him I guess(although he's not for me).

As far as his assessment of all things football though, I think he's very poor tbh, Just tries to hide his lack of knowledge with word play insults, and nicknames.

Yeah that’s fair. Hes just a normal dude init, he’s not going to offer any extra insight than a bloke down the pub but as you say, these guys don’t get rich off their football knowledge, they get rich off how entertaining they are.

It's unlikely he pulls up any trees this season but Ange wants him in the squad again and he'll offer good depth, which is something we missed this season in one competition, let alone four. Some of the reactions to this signing are quite embarrassing tbh.

If he's the only addition come September then fair enough, but he won't be.

I must have missed his Ben Edgar Davids impressions

Must be better options out there in the big wide world than Werner - Surely!!!!

We have had last good few years (and more) or we don't sign people early enough and leave it last minute.
Now we sign players early it's moaning we should wait Incase a better deal comes up 😂

Some in this fanbase will find any little reason to moan. Will never understand living that way myself.

preface: I like Werner, he seems like an alright guy, he's a perfectly serviceable premier league player.

My biggest issue with this is that it doesn't show ambition, our forwards felt like a big problem at times last season and so far it looks like the majority is staying the same. Clubs like West Ham and Villa have better forwards than us. Personally I feel we need an x-factor player such as Kudus and Werner isn't that. This deal just feels cheap like usual.

People say that we will look at RW now instead but Johnson was 40m+ and the club will want to stand behind their investment and Kulusevski also plays there. If Kulu moves to the center then he probably won't be playing as much and gets in the way of any new attacking mid (Bergval or a new signing).

Hopefully I am wrong and we still sign a new exciting forward.

The transfer window doesn't even open for 2 weeks, 14th June.

Everything that we know suggests that Ange has told the club that a new attacker is a priority so no need to panic yet - Werner is a good start and an obvious deal to do but now is not the time to be worrying.
