I think this deal points more towards us using mikey Moore as the third option at lw next season.
equally frees up funds for other positions like CF

Good move , Santiago nowhere near moving up to play at PL level in place of Werner but by 25/26 season a stronger Mikey Moore could well be in contention to provide competition on left side of attack.

Good squad player and happy for him to stay another year. We need two truly top quality additions to the front line now.

Yeah happy enough to extend the loan as long as we’re not missing out on a really good winger but it doesn’t appear so. If we can get a striker and a DMF we can look at getting a top winger next season when Werner’s loan runs out.

When we go out of a winnable cup competition next season cos he’s missed a couple of nailed on chances will this still seem like a “no brainer”?

He missed a few yet still managed to pick up a UCL, Fifa Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, DFB Pokal, & German Super Cup all since 2020.

Perfect fit for our current needs and current squad IMO. Yes, I'd like us to shell out 100m for Williams, Kvaratskhelia, or Leao but if we're being realistic this suits all parties.

I’m very surprised Liepzig would agree to that given his contract runs until 2026 but it’s certainly the best result for us. Can only assume nobody else was interested.

Hopefully this free’s up funds for a quality attacker and CF. Be interesting to see what happens with Solomon.

Maybe his agent has told them he'll go back to Spurs or he'll sit out out his very highly paid contract. It then makes it a no brainer for Liepzig as well.

Yep, was against a permanent deal clogging up the squad and his salary of circa £165k pw but a loan move can make alot of sense for a player who already has built a rapport with the squad and of course knows the league but providing us some depth for a campaign which will hopefully be 50 games+

Think we can all see the virtue in this deal.

Can’t really complain as it’s another loan.

However, would have preferred to see Moore/Santiago get those minutes and sign a marquee winger.

We can’t sign a top quality winger, striker and DMF all in one window though.

Attackers are a priority imo & Ange has hinted at the same.
I’m not convinced we’re even after a DM, tho I agree it’s what we need long term.

I mean surely selling him outright now would be the ideal as his value will only go down by next summer regardless how well he performs. But obviously if no clubs are interested then it certainly makes it an easy decision for them.

Maybe a fee becomes mandatory depending on individual/team targets?

We have enough of our own players who we can only loan out and not sell, so it makes sense we flip the narrative for our own positive gain somewhere.

This seems a great result for everyone and entirely sensible.
