Moore is a great prospect, but, at 16, he is 2-3 years away from being able to provide significant minutes to a contending PL team.

People are probably going to quote you the Capology website figures where Werner is shown on a wage of £8.5 million, however, there seems to be a huge discrepancy on that website as Richy is shown as earning exactly the same money at Spurs as he was at Everton i.e £4.6 mil per year, think Richy should have a word with his agent.

Well he's not been under 165,000 a week since Chelsea. My point is it's not that cheap a deal.

I'd rather a player with more developed shooting technique that has scope to improve rather than one that has such a flaw that is unlikely to improve. It doesn't have to be a world renowned player I'd take an unknown from Japan if they fit the profile. Johnson is already pretty wasteful but might improve, Werner wont

Would keep. He will come in handy in all 4 comps next season. His wages need to be reasonable, though, and I would hope we sell Gil at least and possibly Solomon too based on ability to sell and Ange's assessment

I think we will go for it, but I hope and pray if we do that we sign 2 top top attacking options in addition to Timo if so, a ST and top class WF.

Timo would be absolutely fine at that price as an upgrade squad player to replace Gil/Perisic but if that is all we do or Timo + one more in attack then we’ll be left well sort considering Ange’s style of play as well as now being in EL next season.

I think the prem is a different beast though due to its physicality.

Yep it's becoming normal for clubs to trust these talents now and it is working out for a lot of them too.

If Moore performs better than others in preseason, he should be given minutes next season and be a genuine option.

Not for me.

Half decent player and obviously a nice guy, but the general consensus is that we need to improve the depth of our squad. The way to do that is to buy 2-3 starting 11 players every summer, and those previous starters become your bench, your previous bench players become your 25 man squad.

For too many years we've bulked out the squad with "ok" players who can do a job, but who also reveal the drop-off in quality once a first-teamer is out.

This summer we need to focus on those 2-3 starting new players before we think about the cheaper opportunities to fill in any gaps. There is little point spending £15m and £100k a week at the start of the summer on someone that we can't even be sure we'll actually need.

Come on, the last few windows have been pretty ambitious and honestly, pretty good.
With all the stuff that's changed at the club recently, I think we should hold fire on those cliched complaints a while yet.

Agree and disagree.

We could go for both, with say Gil leaving, maybe Solomon going. Sess going too. That’s 3 fringe players who can play WF who would be upgraded by adding CHO and Werner. Thats where I disagree in terms of how uninspiring it is - I think that improves us.

Where I agree - I feel we need to add another much better WF/attacking option to the ranks beyond the sort of churn I’ve listed above. We need squad options, we need some improved options but we also need a bit of a marked improvement in this area if we want to make the sort of step up we all want and Ange wants.

I could see us trying for all the above if the outgoings work, but that could be a challenge in itself.

Yeah look at Pedri injury record since he broke into the Barca team. Most of which are hamstring injuries.

Even Gavi has been out for a long time now with an ACL injury.

I think there's a lack in ambition if people think he is the be all and end all of our success. We need squad depth. It shouldn't all be on one player.

That may be true but I'm fine with buying them before they reach that stage.
At least we then get some good years out of them and can shift them for good money, if need be.

If we can get back to finding the Bales, Modric's and Dele's again, it's a pretty tidy model and with the recent signings of vdv, Udogie and Sarr, it looks like that's what we're aiming for.

Edit. And that's why I'm not particularly keen about signing Timo, because of his wages and age.

Tbh we will not loose money on him though. When you talk about signing players with *potential*, for some reason some of our fan base don’t want to give potential a chance. We have a 23 yo Brennan Johnson who quite a lot on here have written off.
