What do you mean 1 dimensional, he was a threat on the break, also when playing out wide or cutting it back in the box.

He wasn’t 1 dimensional at all

"but but his finishing"

He joined the club in January, was clearly asked to do a specific job because Ange didn't have the time to get him up to speed completely with the system and he contributed much more than either Gil or Solomon have ever offered us.

Honestly have no idea why anyone would be against this signing. He's perfect for our system as both backup and an occasional starter. Allows us to allocate the bulk of the budget where it's needed, for a proper DM and a new striker.

I understand that we probably need a top quality LW to eventually compete with and replace Son, but he's still here and he's scoring regularly so we can kick that can down the road until next summer if needed. Hell, we could sign both Timo and a top quality winger this summer and still have the budget left to address our other needs.

We have to keep in mind how the board operates in terms of spending, Timo fits the bill for a relatively cheap price.

Yeah, wouldn't be mad at this signing although maybe it can wait until we know who else we've brought in? I imagine we might think we can keep this on the backburner for a bit and see how it goes.

So much play went through him for the short time he was here, he's clearly multiple levels above Gil and Solomon's a complete unknown quantity and extremely injury prone it seems, so somehow shifting them both and bringing Werner back makes for a stronger squad.

Is the general concensus that soloman us not up to the task? Saw he could be leaving, but from what I remember he seemed OK, was so long ago, but wonder why they would get rid of him now he is injured? Would have thought he must be back to fitness soon and if they signed him they should give him a chance before getting rid??

Thought he showed enough ability in his short period of availability, but it was brief and he‘s now had another season majorly interrupted by injury. Prefer to trade him in and add some serious talent in the wide areas.

I would personally just get him on loan and loan out solomun, sell Gil. I reckon leibzig would loan him again with his full wages covered and he clearly does a job in rotation with son. Those two left, go big on striker on RW, then the season after assess where we are and go very big on a LW.

His finishing is laughable so I think it's justified. If we want to improve we need better players.

Best case is another season loan

RB don't want him/can't afford him. They would save 6m in wages

U do realise we won’t be signing established top level players while Levy is as the helm? It’s simply not gonna happen and it never has happened.

Strange the club hasn't let it be known whether we want him for next season or not. Nothing coming from the players agent either as far as I am aware.

I think this is a little disingenuous. The move in the club is surely, in the ideal, to buy young with great potential. I am happy with that.

For the wages he'd want there are a lot of better players. Do you really want to sign someone who you know isn't going to score from most of the times they are put through

That may be true but I'm fine with buying them before they reach that stage.
At least we then get some good years out of them and can shift them for good money, if need be.

If we can get back to finding the Bales, Modric's and Dele's again, it's a pretty tidy model and with the recent signings of vdv, Udogie and Sarr, it looks like that's what we're aiming for.

Edit. And that's why I'm not particularly keen about signing Timo, because of his wages and age.

Well to be up there with the teams competing for the premier league and the champions league, we can't just rely on buying players who think have great potential and then hope they all come off. We are going to need to sign a few established top level players.

He is fine as an off the bench/rotation option. For me, since January, he offered more than the rest of the frontline and I think we missed him after his injury. He wasn't signed for his finishing, he was signed for taking on defenders and cutting the ball across as a wide man and not a goal scoring striker.

This is possibly true, but why is that ? We hear about the financial success , we see Arse paying 100 mill.

I think this fan mindset is now part of the problem why we aren't sitting at the top table. Fans don't even imagine we could be in the first rank transferwise, even though we are told that the top is what we are aiming at.

Because the fans are so certain we can't buy the best...this means there is no pressure on Levy, even if he has the money. Fans are mentally living in 36k White Hart Lane still and Levy can carry on aiming for top 4 while charging the highest prices and taking the largest wage for himself.

When I started with Spurs we broke transfer records regularly. Why are we still doing second tier thinking ?

Rather give his minutes to mikey moore
Werner when fit has been playing regularly in the first team. Moore looks like a huge talent but he is only 16. Yes of course I'd also like to see him get minutes and build up his experience through the season. We can't however expect him to just come right in and play ahead of or instead of Werner who is an experienced premier league and international player.
